Sorry if someone already created a topic on this
But im just curious to know if aang will go deeper in the 3 elements and learn healing(though i dont think all waterbenders can heal), bloodbending, mental bending and the blue lightning

Well as the Avatar I imagine he'd have the ability to do all that and more. But at the same time I would assume he wouldn't want to learn. Healing and metalbending would be helpful in a way, but bloodbending and lightning I think are too horrible for him to consider using.

I say he'd probably learn in time. Although he'll be mastering the elements, I don't really think we'll be seeing any healing, metalbending, etc. advanced moves from him.

Besides, it's those things from other characters that symbolize them and make them unique.

I think it'd be awesome if he did. He'd be the ultimate Avatar, completely undefeatable.

you know i think that maybe the sub bendings are only for the nation benders to learn...the people who have really mastered the elements and learned the culture and everything it wouldnt really seem right for the avatar to be able to learn something that seems more like a family or in some cases an individual talent. so yeah i think that he would have the ability to but i dont think that he will just think how pissed off katara would be if he could heal 2 ahaha *has the waterbending scroll flashbacks*

My dad said this one time, Anyone remember that quote from Iroh uh.. " Use powers for good or bad " or something like that. Well, that's the thing, Aang can learn all these so-called "horrible" bending techinques, just as long as he uses them for good, if he learns blood-bending then he just needs to make sure he doesn't become a Hama,

I agree -- I think only the master benders of their element can do the very advanced moves because the avatar is advanced in his own right. It's like specializing in an area. The person who focuses on one thing is most likely better at that thing than the person who does it all (if that makes any sense).

My opinion is that you can only learn such techniques when you practice and dedicate your time to one element and one element only.

Give him some time. Hes got to be 13 by now and he already masterd his native element, knows the basics of the other elements, settled dozens of disputes, and saved thousands of lives. other avatars don't even know their the avatar untill their 16.

And in my opinion airbenders make the best avatars. and I think Aang will be the best avatar in history (of avatar).

    18. They don't know till they're 18. And they take years to master the elements. Aang hasn't even completed his first year.

It has been 2 and a half seasons which isn't that close to a year. If you notice Book 1 is in Winter and the Comet arrives at the end of Summer his Birthday could easily be in Autumn.
