...add low humor to such a GREAT episode!!!!!??????!!!!????? The whole "and break down my fancy door" was like the least of his worries. And when Toph was like "he's got a point" no duh he's got a point, thanks for ruining your own cause. Then the whole thing where aang points to appa's teeth and then to long feng's toothbites was just......uuuggghhhh. The episode itself was beautiful, but I hate how since the middle of earth (or around there) they started to add low humor. The good humor is halarious, but the low humor is annoying. Why? Why do that? Granted its a kids show, but still...........

I found it sort of funny. If they didn't add that humor in there, the whole scene would have been very, very tense. It makes sense to me that they would add humor there.

you kinda answered your own question there... it is a kid's show... but there are others out there that think this stuff is unnecessary as well.... check out this thread:

Anyone else think Avatar has unnessacary humor?

Ok, humor, but not I don't know how to put it.....stupid humor? And tense isn't bad, the scene at hand happens to be very serious and tense. I know if I was the king I'd be like "what the hell are you doing here?" not "ah man you broke my fancy door."

I like the stuiped humor. Sometimes it can just be just plain stuiped, but the little kids would find it to be lol funny. Older pre-teens and adults and kids watch this show, you have to please them all I guess. It can't be all serous, death blablabla..I like it when it's funny and serious, but there has to be dumb kiddy jokes in there somewhere. I loved the jokes in this epi though.

Gotta remember, the reason the show has so many viewers in a wide varity is become they take everyone into thought. Seriously, there's some 68 year old guy who comes here.

There are worst cases,?? just look at the jokes they're now selling on the Simpsons. Pretty distasteful compared to the older seasons.

You have to have some humor here, and let's face it. The Earth King(do we have his actual name?) has never been outside the city, has never been on a train, and has been lied to by Long Feng for all his life. What is he suppose to care about? I would be angry if some people burst into my home, knocked out my guests/guards and threw the door off its hinges.

Good humor, like Toph's blind jokes, or the cactus juice, or all the "sorries!" as katara owns everyone, is great....huzzah! but avatar is a very mature show, no matter the rating, so all I'm saying is that the humor should be a little more on the mature side, not stiff, but not like kindergarden humor.

I think that the humor was ok, normal, and I was fine with it. It made it less tense. Also, at least Avatar does not have humor like SpongeBob SquarePants.........

It also bothered me how they were apologizing while they were fighting. "Sorry!" "We're on your guys' side, really!" That was painful to watch.

The fancy door thing was a some-word-I-can't-think-of to Sokka going "hey that door's fancy it has to lead somewhere"then he tries some karate kick that fails miserably(I laughed at that part)...and when they get in the King calls it his fancy door too...can't think of the word but I know why they did it...

Well was there any humor in the scene in The Blue Spirit during the fight seen when Aang and TBS are trying to escape, or when TBS was holding the swords up to Aang's neck and Zhao was looking at them. That was tense. Nick probably made them add humor in, though, because they knew season 2 would be darker.

The whole Sokka thing after Katara told him she would stay in the city and he could see his dad was kind of dumb. Sokka tip-toed or something and it sounded really weird. It frankly looked like he had to go to the bathroom.

Yeah I don't like the way they add a cheap laugh to a great episode and it gets annoying when there's so much of it. I don't mind it in the lower episodes, like "Avatar Day" & "Avatar State" where it makes the episode better. However this was a great episode to begin with so it wasn't needed, except for Sokka when he tried to break down the door.
