why in the hell does he have no shirt in most of the episodes of first half of season 3? it makes no sense

Since Katara has to heal him atleast once a day [maybe more, or maybe once each 2 days, can't be sure] and Aang was still dead, well, they probably thought it would be useless to put him a shirt if they had to take it off often anyway.

Or, for the Fangirls.

The same reason Katara has a bare midriff and Toph has bare shoulders.
Based on this progression, if they had a 4th season, the characters would be completely nude all the time.
