As air has been portrayed as peaceful, it will take Aang a great deal of effort to actually take someone out directly. It is worse than the block he had when trying to learn earthbending since both are against his nature. He and Zuko have some of the same problems. Neither of them seem to prepare beyond the current moment or plan ahead for what to do next. In Aangs case, it seemed he figured the AS would be enough to walk over everyone without knowing or planning what to do. This caused him to defenseless when he got blasted in the back (should have seen that coming Aang). As a strategist of any kind you must learn there are always weaknesses to exploit but you also make those weaknesses the hardest to get to. Whoever mentioned it earlier, good catch on the fighting styles and relations to the benders. I have thought the same as well as I have studied a great deal in a few different styles. Fire is by far the most aggressive and Aang hasn't learned it yet so maybe he will be a little more aggressive then. I am waiting to see Appa's reaction when Aang starts firebending since we know he is afraid of fire (but does Aang know). |
You have some very good points.?? The one thing though about Aang is that he holds onto his childhood.?? He likes to have fun and in the Deserter episode the first thing he did with the fire is try that trick the guy did at the festival.?? Even though Firebending is more aggressive in some aspects it is still up to the person to control how aggressive he/she is.?? That is what Jeong Jeong was saying.?? That is what Aang learned.?? Zhao pursued power and had no self control.?? That is why he set his boats on fire.?? As for how Appa reacts when Aang learns firebending that is going to be interesting if they follow-up on that or not.?? I am thinking that they may just forget about it.
