Okay, now that I got that out of my system, this topic is about why people involve with Avatar their viewers by having to wait long periods for the next episode. Also to relive their stress about the matter.
It's Nick that's doing it, not the staff. Nick enjoys torturing us with the INSURMOUNTABLE TWO WEEKS BREAKS WITH ENORMOUS CLIFFHANGERS!!!!! Ok...now that that's out of my system. The Earth King had the best and most unexpected ending of the entire series so far. It's a superb episode. Kudos to the writing staff!

Yes kudos the the writing staff for bringing us the Avatar and YES, Nick likes to just draw out the ratings since all the episodes for this season are complete, they just don't want to show them yet.

BUT a superb episode? I don't think so. Unexpected ending... not hardly. There have been numerous posts in this forum speculating that Azula and friends were gonna penetrate into Ba Sing Se with the Kyoshi Warrior uniforms. Toph being captured by Master Yu and Xin Fu was just a matter of time to further that storyline. Afterall we've yet to have something started that was never completed. Aang going to the Guru... well hey we all knew that was gonna happen. Zuko's sickness... well they did a twist with this one but this began when he cut his ponytail off in "The Avatar State", turmoil began to stir in Zuko Alone and Bitter Work, realization sinks in with Tales of Ba Sing Se and Lake Laogai which means the next logical step in this type of scenario is a 'rebirth' of the character.

So the writers did a great job tying it all together but the episode itself was disappointing. As masterofaeons pointed out on another thread, the 'convince the Earth King' was too drawn out. That time could have been spent showing what did happen during the battle with the Kyoshi Warriors or better yet, a tribute to Jet and his final resting place (i.e. Smellerbee and Longshot on a hillside kinda like Iroh with his son).

This episode was a very rushed game of catch up. The things that happened in this episode were overwhelming because they all happened at once putting us in the story where we should have been some time earlier. Primonation stole my arguement about pacing the middle of the episode better (Grr!), but as a whole I am much more satifisfied with Avatar than I was when the series dropped to a standstill after Bitter Work.

Thank god we're going somewhere now. That's all I asked for.

That's all anyone asked for. I dunno. Like i said, I felt more satisfied at the end of this episode than I did at the end of SotFN. Hmp.

    Hurry up December 1st!

*ponders the fact how pathetic I am wishing away my life just to watch a new episode of a show*

BUT a superb episode??? I don't think so.?? Unexpected ending... not hardly.?? There have been numerous posts in this forum speculating that Azula and friends were gonna penetrate into Ba Sing Se with the Kyoshi Warrior uniforms.?? Toph being captured by Master Yu and Xin Fu was just a matter of time to further that storyline.?? Afterall we've yet to have something started that was never completed.?? Aang going to the Guru... well hey we all knew that was gonna happen.?? Zuko's sickness... well they did a twist with this one but this began when he cut his ponytail off in "The Avatar State", turmoil began to stir in Zuko Alone and Bitter Work, realization sinks in with Tales of Ba Sing Se and Lake Laogai which means the next logical step in this type of scenario is a 'rebirth' of the character.

So the writers did a great job tying it all together but the episode itself was disappointing.?? As masterofaeons pointed out on another thread, the 'convince the Earth King' was too drawn out.?? That time could have been spent showing what did happen during the battle with the Kyoshi Warriors or better yet, a tribute to Jet and his final resting place (i.e. Smellerbee and Longshot on a hillside kinda like Iroh with his son).

Well Long Feng is his most trusted advisor, so certainly he couldn't just believe a group of kids whom he just met without seeing some outright evidence.?? And remember, the Earth King is not exactly too bright.?? He had never left the palace.?? Long Feng is his best buddy.?? That's like telling you your best friend who you've known all your life has lied to you about something so huge it could end your friendship.?? So he wanted to be sure, nothing wrong with that.

I disagree.?? It was unexpected.?? At least to me.?? I did not read any of those posts about Azula and the other penetrating BSS with the Kyoshi costumes because obviously that speculation ruined the episode for you.?? That was the best part of the ep. in my opinion.?? I read no theories so I was very surprised.?? You like ruining that for me by saying people were already theorizing about it??? It in fact DID surprise me and made the episode for me.?? Too bad it was obviously ruined for some.?? Without that last part, maybe it's an 7.5/10.?? But the ending bumped it up to a 9.5 in my opinion.?? Argue all you want.?? It won't change the fact that the episode was far more enjoyable for me than others because it was "predicted by others on this forum."?? A true shock is much more enjoyable than thinking "Oh I was right with my theories".?? Not saying theorizing is bad, but sometimes it can bad.?? If you watch things as they unfold it's more enjoyable.

If you don't understand what I'm saying here I'm sorry.?? It's past 1:30 in the morning and I've had a long day...but that eppy just made my day.?? In fact I'll probably fall asleep while typi.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

*my boss just told a joke laugh*

He's right though. We are spoiling ourselves.

awww... I thought I gave you the credit... see where I bolded the text... but to further clarify it, yes it was his idea about maybe giving details about the Kyoshi Warriors (but mine about the Jet tribute)!??

I LOVES SARCASM... it is a little known fact that Toph is actually my first born but I gave her up to those pathetic people who thought that a "flying boar" was their offspring to pursue my simple life as a DJ in my young teen years.

As IF. He already tried to get smart on me and failed miserably in a thread. And I did NOTHING to him.

Argh. if you're gonna be a smart ass to me at least let me do something wrong first, you know?

I agree! They'ce twisted up things in the plot that I NEVER imagined could come! And i've thought up so many scenarios (which is why i'm so bad in math. lol) about what could happen but I never saw any of this happening.

I am honestly and completely impressed with the creators. They really outdid themselves.

I thought most of it came from the fact of Mako's death. (RIP)
