    Umm...kid show?

Despite the depth of storytelling, it is still fundamentally a family oriented show. That means sad things happen along the way, but in the end, everything works out and they all live happily ever after minus the bad guys.

Plus, though I really don't want shipping to get involved with this, Aaron Ehasz, basically the third creator of the show, stated Katara would either end up with Aang or Zuko, and the chances of ending up with the latter are looking slim.

He's already dead since they've stopped producing Avatar episodes. The story is dead. The plot is dead. The characters are dead.

I'll pencil you in for Wednesday. Well, actually, I think I have Hillary Clinton for Monday, and that could take some time.
    Maybe Thursday, Friday-ish? Sound good?

nah aang wont die, he couldnt seeing as he pretty much did at the end of season 2, he will probably get hurt but just need healing, hence when he is lying down and katara heals him he will tell her how he feels then kataang wins. and also coz its a family show i doubt they would really kill off the main character when he's only like 12/13

The four nations were peaceful once, why can't they be so again? Not everybody in the Fire Nation is bad, we know that much. If they have a Firelord (Zuko?/Iroh?) who knows right from wrong, they won't be trying to take over the world. Just as not EVERYBODY in the U.S. is happy with the war in Iraq, I'm sure there are plenty of people in the Fire Nation who know that the war is wrong. It's not like they can start a protest, though -- I'm sure Ozai doesn't exhibit freedom of speech as a human right. He doesn't even list "life" under human rights.

I have very little doubt that if people spoke out against the war, they or their loved ones would be killed and/or imprisoned. Back to the point: the Fire Nation would be perfectly fine if they only had a good leader. It's not like they would be pulling at the reins every other minute.

Aang doesn't need to die. And, frankly, Aang won't die. It's a kid's show... to kill the hero is an absurd thought. I mean, there's always a chance and I would never bet my life on either side... but that would be like killing off Spongebob. Except that people would actually be sad about this death.

Moreover, if Aang does, there won't be four nations. There will be three. Do you not see what this would do to the balance of the world? Broken. If Aang does, the world is no longer in harmony and nobody will ever live a happy, long life again.

In short? Aang + death = not gonna happen.

Okay, so can anyone here honestly say that they don't think that Aang will almost die? Anyone?
Or is it just me who thinks that it'll be one heck of a close battle?

Even though i dont want it to happen, all signs point towards Aang dying at the end of the series. The avatar exists for one reason to bring peace between the four nations. The only way i see aang living beyond the end of this season is that they find a greater threat than the fire nation. Aang and Katara isnt gonna happen. Im not going by the fact that she looked sad after he kissed her "Day of the Black Sun" im going by the fact that the show is called the last airbender. Usually in chinese prophecy and literature everything is written in stone. If he and Katara(sorry if i spell her name wrong) got together eventually off spring would occur, and though they would be (water benders and ari benders) that would still mean he wasnt the last airbender. People are going to argue that that is just a subtitle but i just dont see aang living at the end of the series. He will take down the fire nation but he will sacrifice himself in the process. That would be the most memorable way for the series to end.
America is the only country where it is Avatar:The last airbender. When it came to other countries, it became Avatar: The legend of Aang. They woudln't ahve changed the title unless they had a good reason, so either there are other air benders alive, or Aang will have children or something like that.

If it say "The Legend of Aang" he can still die because he becomes a legend (Probablly because he is going to sacrafice himself for everyone).

aang cannot die. Main characters never die (Most of the time)

Except for that sad World War 2 dedication anime movie, "Grave Of The Fireflies." Where both the main characters died while trying to protect themselves from the cruel Americans hurting their town.

Themius makes a good point about there being imbalance in the world if there are only 3 nations. I don't think Aang will die. It's a kid's show first and foremost, and I don't think they'd kill him off. He will come close to death, though, IMO.

I don't think the main character of any show should or would necessarily 'die' because that would ruin the entire balance of the show. Speaking of which, does anyone have any idea when the new episodes are coming back?

i doubt he'll die, i mean, yeah he will die, but not because of the final fight, i think it will go around something like this:
*epic fight with firelord while zuko fights azula*
Fire Lord: You put up a good fight, but you're still a kid, prepare to die, a virgin! *shoots lightning*
Aang: *flinches because of the memory of azula and the lightning, so he gets hit* *thinking* i failed... in the end, i am just a kid... i am not a god, or a hero... it would have been best if i had never awoken from that iceberg... heh, to think i actually believed i, a 13 year old could defeat so many people who have trained their entire lives to become powerful, i didn't even train a year... now, everyone that ever helped me will die... zuko, sokka, toph, foaming mouth guy, and, of course... you... katara, you gave me so much strengh, but also weakness, if hadn't refused to leave you back then... i would have obtain the power of the avatar state... i made a mistake... no, that cannot be right, that can't be right! i know my duty is to save the world, but caring so much for you can't be wrong, you have been a friend, a mother, and everything to me, if it hadn't been for katara i wouldn't have gone out of the iceberg, i wouldn't have helped all those people, i wouldn't have brought hope to everyone, including my self, i can't give up, no, not yet, not while i can do something! *wakes up and sees FL preparing a final hit* *firebends a little to escape his attack*
FL: ?! you should be dead
Aang: Not... While... I... Can... Protect... Her... Even, if that... Means i must... Leave her... *has vision of him with the whole avatar state thing from CoD* And... now... i... Can! (goes avatar state and kicks the holy snot out of the firelord)

Meh, i do bad fanfics =P
Anyway, yeah, he will kinda die, the pull out the Avatar State and save the day, then he will die about 100 years later and stuff, it's likely we hear something about his leyend, "Being the first and only avatar that knew his idententy at the age of 12, he stopped a 100-year old war, and repopulated the Air Nomads, Avatar Aang."
