So we know at the end of the Sozin's Comet movie, Katara finally accepted her love for Aang. But I would have liked to see this sooner. It might have been more interesting if they had began their relationship earlier in Season 3, and used their love to help them get through their mission. Then again, we wouldnt have the beautiful kiss scene at the end. Still, I would have liked to see more of their relationship, instead of advancements in it sort of spread out with maybe 2, 3 maximum episodes per season that focused more on Kataang with the rest revolving around their mission.

Anyone understand what I mean? Sort of hard to explain.

I actually liked the way their relationship progressed. It was a long time, but they had to develop the right emotions and the necessary events to propel them forward. The only thing that bothered me was in Soizn's Comet Aang and Katara barely talked to each other! I would have even liked it if before the kiss scene something like this happened:

Aang and Katara look into each other's eyes

    Katara: Aang...

    Aang: Katara, I-

Katara puts her hand to his lips, and they both kiss

Yeah...The only time they ever really discuss their relationship is in The Ember Island Players, and that ended somewhat sorely.

Maybe the kiss scene at the end should have gone like this:

*After Aang walks out of the tea shop and Katara follows*

Aang: Katara, I've never had the opportunity to say this to you...Katara, I l--

*Katara jumps in to kiss Aang*

Katara: I know. I love you too.

*continue kiss scene and continue original ending.*

    *sniffs* Thats beautiful!

Katara and Aang did talk to each other during The Phoenix King, but Aang was experiencing a pubescent angst!

Lol thanks. And yeah, your right about the one conversation they did have in the finale.

I guess their relationship wasnt as easy because they were younger. Sokka is about 15 or 16, Suki is about the same age, Mai and Zuko are around that age as well, so maybe it was just easier for them because they were older. On the other hand, by season 3, Aang was maybe 13 and Katara 14. Roku even said:

"Love is hard when your young. But dont worry, it gets better."

And besides, Katara might have been embarassed to admit her feelings for Aang, and that made it a bit more difficult for them both. And there is always the age difference to consider. Still, a couple years doesnt make a difference when you are older.

I guess because this was the most epic relationship of the series, they might have wanted to draw it out a bit and wrap it up at the end of the series. Still I would have liked to see their relationship bloom earlier on.

Well you know what they say: the girl should be younger than the boy. Girls are apparently more mature than boys, so if they marry an older boy, their maturity levels would match.

Anyways, I don't think Katara was embarassed, but she wanted the war to end. Aang was the Avatar and his first duty will always be the world. Like Yangchen said, the Avatar cannot distance themselves from the Earth since they destinies are connected with it. Katara apparently realized that first, and didn't want to distract Aang like in the Season 2 Finale.

I know what your saying. But Katara could have looked at a relationship with him in a different way. For example, Katara admitting her love to Aang might have empowered him. And they could have drawn strength from eachother to win the war. Though I suppose it could be a distraction from the real task, it probably would have helped more than it could have hindered them though.

Um... No, I didn't change my icon today. I changed it yesterday.

Well, I understand what you're saying, but the clich?? is always that the love leads to the downfall. I would have hated it if Ozai captured Katara and blackmailed Aang, almost like in Spiderman.

Yeah, I can see what Guru Pathik was touching on. It wasnt neccessary to let go of earthly things to master the avatar state, as was proven by Roku who had a wife, and Aang who mastered the avatar state after his chakra was unlocked by the rock hitting him on the spot where Azula shot him with lightning. But maybe Guru Pathik saw that he loved Katara and maybe tricked him into letting go of her because he might have thought it would hinder his progress in the future.

PS: I didnt know you changed it yesterday, probably changed just now because I linked my Gamespot account with this one (signatures and such only show up if you signed up on Tv.com).

PSS: Either its only you and I on this forum right now or no one else is interested in this thread.

Actually, there was too MUCH Kataang shipping. If you rewatch the first and second season there's practically a Kataang remark in every single episode. Bryke made it too easy.

No I didnt notice that actually. I recently rewatched the first two Seasons on DvD and Season 3 is still fresh in my memory. And what I really mean is, I wanted to see their relationship move forward, rather than just Aang talking about it seperate from Katara. They only really talk about whether or not they are going to be together in the Ember Island Players, and there were kiss scenes like in The Cave of Two Lovers and the invasion that didnt really lead anywhere (though in the cave of two lovers Katara was quick to kiss aang considering they could have found other ways to get out of the cave). And after the invasion kiss Katara and Aang didnt talk about it right up until just before the finale.

I just feel like it would have been nice if they showed their feelings for eachother in public and were closer throughout the series like Sokka and Suki or Mai and Zuko.

I've been rewatching the first and second season and I thought it was pretty obvious. I mean, episodes like The Fortuneteller, The Cave of Two Lovers, and others were filled to the brim with Kataang. But I know what you mean. Although I would've liked to see more Kataang as a couple, I wouldn't have the final scene any other way. I think that if Kataang had more time to develop it would've seemed drawn out to me. And weird.
