lol im not. i believe azula helped aang sharpen his battle skills. even if she didnt mean to
You can say that about any character on the show that fought against Aang.
um zhao didnt exactly help aang. zhao just managed to make himself look stupid

Well, technically, Zhao taught Aang how to use others weaknesses against them. That's teaching him how to perfect his fighting skills.

ok u got me there. he did help aang with that. azula might not have been aangs official master, but she still managed to help him. compare his first fight with her to his fight in the crossroads with her. only someone who has a lot of experience fighting could have been able to hold her back that long. i mean in the chase she creamed him without trying. this time was more of an effort for her

He really didn't hold her back that long. She was on the offensive and he was putting up as much defense as possible. He was really having any effect on her. The minute he went into the Avatar state he was taken down. Azula pwned him 100%.

yes she did beat him, but he still managed to hold her back. before he would have been killed in that fight if he hadnt faced her more often

No, I need people to realize that this thread, which had a lot of potential, has been hoplessly derailed. We're discussing Aang's masters. Was Azula Aang's master? No. So why is she being discussed here?!!!

Lol, sorry I just love debating. But, anyway, I think the lion-turtle was the most important. All of Aang's other masters, as much as I hate to admit it, could've been any other person with exceptional bending powers. The lion-turtle held the key to winning the war. Without the lion-turtle, Aang would've killed the Fire Lord and the war would still rage on.

Drop it. It's obviously annoying Axrendale and she is right. She might've helped him, but this isn't the time and place to discuss it. We;ve established she isn't a master, therefore it shouldn't be discussed on this board.

Sorry, it's just that I really felt that this might have turned into some interesting discussion. But in my experience threads that become derailed rarely manage to get back on track. *sigh*

I might make a thread to discuss whether or not Azula helped Aang in mastering the elements. however, i think that the Lion Turtle helped Aang the most, it only showed Aang the correct way to end the war. if he had killed the Fire Lord, then the world would have raged on in utter regret of their leader's killer. However, by not killing Ozaii, Aang showed the world evil could be stopped without murdering. He set an example for the future.

No love of Toph in the polls

I'm going to say Zuko was the most helpful to Aang He after all taught he how to redirect lightning witch came in handy. The lion turtle comes in second. Because even if he didn't want to, Aang could have always killed Ozai. If fact he almost did when he was redirecting the lightning but changed his mind at the last second.

It's true that Toph and Zuko were very helpful with teaching Aang martial arts actions (and I suppose we can lump the lion turtle in that catagory too), but I think that Katara was the master who was the most help to Aang in ways other than fighting. All those times she helped him out of the Avatar State, as well as helping him cope with Appa being kidnapped, and all those other things.
