There's so much that could be discussed about Iroh. He's one of my favorite characters and I would like to hear some other people's thoughts about it.

Firstly, he was originally the first in line to become Firelord, but got cheated out of it by his brother. So he's pretty powerful.??I wonder if he's shown us the true depth of his skill as a firebender -

    A) Iroh vs. Azula - who would win? Azula is quite the firebender but it seems like Iroh is hiding quite alot himself.

    B) Does anyone picture Iroh being the firebending master to teach Aang? I've been thinking about the possibility for some time.

    C) The White Lotus -?? some secret society that Iroh is a "grand master" of. I wonder what "secrets" he knows in relation to them and what they even are. Will it be revealed in later episodes or be a dropped plot?

That's all I can think of now

P.S. if a similar or duplicate topic was created in the past don't spit your acid at me cause I'm not interested. I just want to hear other fans' opinions on this subject not complaining about how i didn'tspend 10 hours looking through the other 102 topics.

    Thanks ^^

    Please, shut up.

The White Lotus society is probably not going to appear in any major way later in the series. It did seem to get enough time for an obervant person to get what it's all??about.

oh ok Mr. know it all. I'm sorry I'm so NOOB at watching TV. I anticipated someone would be compelled to inundate me with their witty remarks, which is why i already stated I DONT CARE - what you have to say if it's not pertaining to the topic. Since you can't even read simple instructions I guess that makes you a PRO moron. This is a place to discuss the show, not cry about how long you've been a member of TV.com

one of the things about iroh i want to know is how his son died and if the rumor of him going into the spirit world are true

and another thing, i was watching the winter solstice part 2 i think, and aang was on rokus dragon thing and it went over iroh and the earthbenders heads and even though aang was in the spirit world, iroh acted like he saw the dragon

that's interesting - thanks I believe it was Zhou (but I could be wrong) who noted that Iroh took a journey into the spirit world. I don't think there is any detail about the death of his son other than "he died in battle."
About the dragon I'll go check that out, I didn't notice it before

Iroh did notice the dragon. I believe his wisdom was attained when he entered the spirit world. Maybe he's actually some kind of spirit of fire that tries to help maintain the balance in the world. Like a mini Avatar.

Yeah, Iroh noticed Aang on Roku's dragon.?? It would be something interesting to learn how he can see it, but it would have to be something Iroh has a reason to say.?? Might even be something he had to go through the White Lotus Society to accomplish.?? We'll probably never find out how he entered as a member, though.

haha i don't know what it is but there's definitely something he's hiding. At times he is extremely wise, but on the outside he always comes off as a foolish old man. In contrast to the typical fire nation upper class / elite, he does not care much about his own appearance or what others think of him. Does anyone think Iroh could be Aang's firebending teacher?

It's possible, Iroh is a master.?? However the whole balance of the group (in both age and number of benders) would be thrown off.?? Iroh is an old man, a insanely cool old man, but still an old man.?? Everyone else is a kid, even Zuko is still a teenager.?? It would be really odd for this group of kids to be traveling with an old man, it just doesn't really seem to flow.?? Also, you would have two firebenders if Iroh joined (I'm assuming Zuko stays with Iroh), which means the whole 1:1 ratio of the benders would be thrown off.??

Historically, the White Lotus Society was a religious order associated with rebellion against the established Chinese government of the dynasties.?? My theory is that since Iroh was betrayed by his brother for the throne and since he seems to be far more passive in his war effort, he's actually one of the founders of a secret rebellion movement against the Fire Lord.??

Maybe Iroh's journey to the spirit world was prompted by his son's death. He could have been looking for him??just to know if he still loved him, or something deep like that.

If you notice, the Fire Nation is in the East, so he must have done something big in the western Earth Kingdom. There probably aren't dragons for all the compass points. But there might be some terrific warriors or generals from these other places.

He was probably called this because he was the most powerful firebending general in control of the western front of the war (or something)
