This is made with more than of a year experince on this forum.

    1. never EVER even think about saying that spongebob is not as bad as the people say it is on this forum. This is a big mistake done by most new users. Even though Spongebob has the highest ratings for a child's show on television, no one watches it!

    2. Never say that nick isn't evil. Even though Nick has the right to not show any episodes of avatar, its important to insult the nick corporation and its executives. It's important that you never once feel grateful to nick when it shows a new episode of avatar. Instead, you should feel angry! "why haven't they showed this episode earlier?" You should go create threads showing your anger, but never tell this to nick. Telling nick that you would like to see more episodes will never get them showed more often, its better if you just make fun of nick behind its back.

    3. If you think that your ship is supior to someone else's don't just save it for the Official Character Relationship thread, spread you belifes to other threads and even create threads of your own, stating how great your ship is and why ever other ships sucks. (the other members of the forum, especially the vets, will enjoy your viewpoint and find it quite sourceful)

    4. If you have a problem with someone on this forum, don't just say "hey, when you do [insert thing they do that bothers you here] it bothers me, would please not do it as much?", insult them, insult their mother. Who do they think they are saying that spongebob is one of their favorite tv shows? Didn't they read rule #1? If they don't stop, then mod every single post they make. Create a new account and mod every single post they make again, sooner or later that user is going to get banned for their explotation of freedom of speech.

Just follow these 4 simple rules and you will be the like the portion of arrogaunt, selfish, obsesive posters on this thread and be making a ton of friends.

    NOTE:

I do not agree with those rules in any way what-so-ever, those rules are just what i have seen made clear by the members of this forum

    ALSO:

not all of the members of this forum are arrougaunt selfish or obsive, many are thoughtful, intelligent posters.

sorry, i forgot the most important rule of all.

    5. Never, ever, say that you object to anything about avatar. It does not matter if thought that Jet shouldn't of died, or that Suki should of been killed. I've you even lead on to not liking something in the avatar plot, you have commited something worse than treasm, worse than trolism. All in all, no true avatar fan could ever find something that they don't like about avatar

*I don't agree with this rule either

Regarding the "not every member is evil and selfish, etc. part", I was actually quite apprehensive about posting when I first joined. I was truly afraid I'd get trolled or flamed and I've never experienced that on any other forum I've gone to. Even though it is just one aspect of the forums, it reflects the community as a whole. In other words, this forum is not a good environment for most newcomers. Even though I'm probably going off on a tangent with all of this, it's true. While most members are "wise and intelligent posters" isn't that usually when "wise and intelligent" posts are required? The overall community needs to be more open to new people and friendlier to new faces. It's kind of like a clique.

nicely said,^^ and i agree. I think we all should try to be more open and easy-going to newcomers, because everyone of us was there at some point. and i had the same experience as psychopass, i was intimidated by the people here, but once i started talking i realized the people here are easy to talk to, once they begin to get used to you being around.

It is a clique. This forum has its own behaviours and I found that lurking around helps, but not everyones that patient.

I only lurked for a day.

I wish I lurked longer. I've probably offended half the people on the forum one way or another.

    Fun fact:

I lurked here in and out for about a year before acctually bothering to post here....

EDIT: to the above: lurking doesn't help your level much, posting things around TV.com does. Lurking is just looking and reading around in the forums only.

    A fine question.

Lurking is when you watch and read other people's posts without posting yourself.

    As for learning stuff...

Yeah, I've noticed that newbies are treated pretty harsh here. Everyone's been cool to me, though. But I guess that's 'cause everyone seemed to like my "Day In the Life" thread. So my advice to newbies: post something funny and don't suck. If you can do that then you're in.

Actually, there's a difference between newbs and n00bs.

Newbs we're fine with as long as they don't post stupid threads and troll. With n00bs, it doesn't matter how long you've been here, if you're incredibly obnoxious, that's when we're going to get defensive.

I have nothing against newbs; we were all at that point at some time. But n00bs.. Ugh, no thanks..

Not true. You'll get flamed if you DON'T say you hate the Great Divide
And lol to this thread XD You have excellent points.
Although... I really don't mind Spongebob. Although that might be because Australia's still a couple of seasons behind (you know, when it was apparently still good...)

Those are some recurring problems on this forum but we still have the right to express our opinions if it's against Nick or Spongebob. We all admit that people like Spongebob, but we also all know it's gotten stale and it's been overplayed on Nickelodeon. Some feel that all the Spongebob is cutting into time Nick could be showing Avatar and they have the right to feel that way and express it.

I completely disagree with what you've just wrote. I've been saying for ages that I like Spongebob and that Nick isn't as bad as people think, and not once have I been flamed for my opinion.

We're not harsh on newbs, we're harsh on n00bs, i.e. people who deserve it.

    Be careful
some newcomers or n00bs might take those rules as well...RULES, facts.
That could be major porblem, but then again, someone with normal sense would read all through, but I have known lots of people without sense at all, so beware XD

My philosophy: Don't bite the newbies!

Even though they are quite tasty, they are also fragile.
