I belive that if 2 people from different nations (does not matter if one is the avatar) get married the children would be NOT BENDERS. that would be a very logic and non-confusing solution.

it would be really tough for the air nomads to continue. first, there's the chance that aang can't have children with someone from another nation. then, there's a chance that kataang wouldn't produce any airbenders, or that that kid(s) could die. also, since the chance of bending abilities would decrease over the first couple generations, the only solution might end up being that kataang's children would have to... yeah...

Look the most logical answer is "Ask again later" (I base this on the motions of a magic 8 ball) there just to many questions within the question that need answers: like how do people become benders, does Aang need to regenerate airbenders, will aangs and katara's relationship ever blossom to that of reproduction, etc. You have the answer these questions before you could ever hope to answer the first.

Personally if Katara and Aang ever marry then i believe their children would be 60% air benders and 40% waterbenders.

The reason is because Aang seems naturally gifted at all forms of bending.(Duh he's the avatar!) Which means if bending has anything to do with genetics, Aang's is more pronounced and powerful than Katara's. Even if genetic's only has to do with the native element, Aang's history seems to denote that he was exceptionally gifted at HIS native element of air, so I think his genetic's would be more pronounced in the kids than Katara's genetics. Hence the "dominant" trait.

i seriously don't want to get into the genetics argument again...but i think that the fact that aang's the last airbender would lend to the idea that at least a few of his children - assuming he has more than one or two - would be airbenders, regardless of who the mother is

You have two going in the mix who have water bending abilities. Katara and Aang. He is strength comes from the fact that he is the avatar and his ability to bend other elements also comes from that fact. So if one argues that his waterbending, firebending, and earthbending are not able to be inherited, then his strength does not mean the child will have a greater chance of being an airbender. It will be, at best, a 50/50. More likely it will a 33/33/33 between airbending, waterbending, and a sokka, or 25/25/50 respectively.

If the other bending elements are in there then it should be 62.5% waterbending (50% from katara and 1.4th of 50% from Aang), 12.5 earthbending(1/4 of Aang), 12.5 airbending(1/4th Aang), and 12.5 firebending(1/4th Aang). Subtract whatever percentage of people who are not benders within their respective groups. It may be more likely that the children come out waterbenders than airbenders. Assuming that there is a 50 % chance that the children will not be benders, then all of the above calculations are halved. So that is 31.25 for waterbending, 6.25 earthbending, 6.25 firebending, and 6.25 airbending and reserve the rest, 50%, for nonbenders. The equation gets complicated if each bending nation produced different percentages of benders and nonbenders in the total population.

Lastly it is possible that their genes could only produce non-benders: Genentics

As those who went before me stated, there are too many unknowns.

I agree. But at least one of em' has to be an Airbender, or the Avatar Cycle will be broken, as I personally believe that Aang really is the last Airbender. And, for those who sat Bedning isn't genetic, then why is it that most Earthbenders have green or brown eyes, most Firebenders golden, most Waterbenders blue, and mostr Airbenders grey?? No really, look, most of the time any Bender will have an eye colro corresponding to their element. Plus, except for Aang case cu'z he's actually the "spirit of the world", Bending abilities stay inside thier Nation- you don't see baby Earthbenders being born in the Fire Nation, or vice versa, etc etc. Because of that, it has to be genetic. There is also some specualtion that the mixing of two different Bender's genes, namely, Aang who has all the elements, and Katara, who has Water, might create a Bender that can Bend 2 of the elements, or maybe 3. Or, maybe just an Airbender or Waterbender, I don't think that just an Erathbender or firebendre is possible for a child of Katara and Aang, I expect that Airbending would be the dominant gene in Aang, since it is his mother Nation.

Monks have all been castrated. Aang and Katara can't have children without the aid of modern science. So you can Katang all you want, but in the end it'll just make Katara cry.

Heh, well, ignorant me, I had to go look that up (eunuch, that is, back before you elaborated).?? According to MY dictionary definition, this practice was usually only employed in Islamic countries for court officials, so my question is this: do Buddhist monks (around whom, I think, the Airbenders are based) generally practice the same thing???? Man, if that principle applies to Aang, God, I feel sorry for the little guy.?? But nobody ever said in the show that Airbender monks follow the same customs or beliefs as??(as far as my knowledge goes) some of the real world do.?? Just my opinion, by the way....... I really don't know much about it.?? Maybe the Airbenders simply have to be chaste (a rule which the currently lovestruck Aang is failing dismally to follow, if they did have such a rule?? ).

Plus, the possibility of such real-world customs being applied to the show would just make it complicated and far less enjoyable.
