    You do that.

    Problems with the show:

    1. Jokes at the cost of the visually challenged (Jokes on Toph)
    2. Due to nick and FAA restrictions fight scene cannot have shown outcomes causing bleeding or penetration injuries. If kids that for some reason need to be sheltered are watching that might not be bad thing, but the show has many cutting and stabbing weapons that will never actually do the kind of harm they were designed to do. Mai for example is technically useless, all she can do is pin people, if her attacks were to kill they would always be blocked or dodged because penetration wounds can not be done.
    3. The relationships are typical to arousing a young teenage audience. With kids being un-effect and adults wanting more.

    that all for now.

Well there is no shortage on that list either, at least outside the usa, inside well there avatar, maybe danny phantom, kim possible (oh god what a orgy of pop-feminism!), etc. I'll admit avatars probabbly #1 in the usa on that, I think "stellvia of the universe" is a goode example of a all-ages show, I would describe it as a fusion of star trek and harry potter. 4. I'm not saying avatar does not have comedy, and there are other cartoons that have light commedy (most american cartoons in fact) sure race jokes are bad but what about jokes about the disabled, say jokes about the visually challenged? I???m sure blind people watching the show (don't laugh) would have some objections to some of the jokes made at Toph's expense. 5. Do you know much about easter philosophy? Where is there bending of the elements in it?

    Uhh... I changed my mind.

    1. Wow. So this makes the whole show suck, huh? This is major nit-picking, especially when they show that Toph has learned to accept her blindness, and that it is not a major disability to her. When I hear a blind person complain, then I'll issue your complaint as valid.

    2. This doesn't make the show bad, either. I don't appreciate blood and gore, and as for the Mai comment, do you get freaked out during haunted house rides? Many people do, and the reason is that there's a part of our fear that overrides our thought process of whether something is rational or not. We know that we are not going to recieve bodily harm on a haunted house ride and yet we are afraid. Likewise, just because Mai can't pin someone doesn't make her any less dangerous in the imaginary world.

    3. This is because, you know, the characters are about that age. If kids are unaffected, then they most likely will be when they hit a certain age, and you're stereotyping adults by saying all of them would want more.

    Well avatar is such a great show becaus;
The NEW cartoons (of today) suck like hell and this one is an exception (finally)
and dunno about naruto or anything but it's only for the certain people fun to watch it, this show attracts all sorts of people without being to stupid or to deep...

I was afraid that the days of the cartoons that a kid has to think to get the story in the cartoon were gone But?? hallelujah they have returned with this one single cartoon

i think it's unique because anyone of any age, gender, or race can enjoy it. it's not foul and stupid, and the characters don't play dumb, like most other cartoons. you see stuff like that a lot lately. I think avatar is so unique because it's NOT that.

It a joke. I said don't laugh, I didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to take that seriously. Thank you for proving me wrong.

    piranhapete.

    1. Did I say the whole show sucked? Just because you don't hear a complaint does not mean it is not wrong.
    2. No I don't get freak out be huanted house rides. Mai is completely non-threating in a the imaginary world of avatar.

    3. Any statement should be consider as non-definitive. How many people say definitive statements but don't me it. By the time the kids grow up the show will be over. Personally I don't like romance, I rather have non-sexual character development I find it more creative. Kiddy romance is a cheap shot for ratings.

The show is not universal, few adults watch it, if your a adult and watch this show your abnormal, except it.

Sheesh when did happen, ah well I was planning on posting this earlier so??whatever-

M???kay I think we got the point. But seriously sure all these are what makes Avatar a good show, but the thing is, television and basically entertainment in general, has been around for quite a while now, so well, pretty much everything???s been done in some way God knows how many times. Ergo, none of this stuff are particularly what makes Avatar unique. All the more why this thread???s kinda pointless and overused. Yeah, yeah the dialog for Matrix 2, we know. As for the whole Naruto thing, matter of opinion. On that note, we can say it sucks balls all we want but does that make it true? Hellz no (you can give it a shot though). And I think we're all quite aware of that "battles last a bunch of??episodes thing" Numerous shows use it, its just one of the many styles of storytelling etc etc. And for their similarities, they???re there, like it or not. If you do happen to not like it, then you???ll love this-?? http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38758355/. Oh and thanks for ruining for me. Jeez. ???Always wondered what that???s short for. Huh.

    1. Okay; I get your point there.

    2. I don't particularly care if you find them frightening or not. Some do, mainly because that's the whole point of them. By a similar token, the whole point of a TV show is to get you to PRETEND that what's going on on screen is actually happening. You're really not supposed to say "They can't show blood so Mai isn't dangerous" just as you really aren't supposed to say "Well because we all know that a bad ending would suck, obviously Aang's going to defeat the Fire Lord." You're supposed to allow the show to cover you in the illusion that these people do not know that Mai is not dangerous and that they do not know that they'll get a happy ending.

    3. Well, I guess it'sjust a matter of opinion. It may be done a lot in tv shows, but Avatar, I find, does romance exceptionally well. I find the idea of one finding a soulmate quite appealing. Additionally, to me, it does not need to show them growing up, but simply having a couple end on a good note.

What the heck? My main problem with your post is that you named five SEPARATE examples, whereas Avatar has a bit of everything in one neat package. Why are you even here if you don't like Avatar?

Wondered when someone would ask that. Seriously just because you love??or enjoy watching a show doesn't mean we can't criticize and point out its flaws. But this needs to ease up a bit more.

2.I always thought it was to get you to empathize with the characters, to feel what their feeling. what ever. Actually an unhappy ending can be really amazing: watch Cowboy Bebop, Wolfs Rain, Gantz, Elfen Lied, Neo Genensis Evangelion... wait scratch that last one, EVA will cause brain damage if you watch the end, seriously. Anyways were was I?

    3. Children finding a soul mate?, oh please. I rather see a character move on, that is true development, like the end of Casablanca.

    2. The only way you can empathize with the characters, to "feel what they're feeling," is to believe that they are real, and that they are actually feeling the feeling. That's why bad acting destroys a movie/tv show- it shatters the illusion that someone is actually upset or angry or whatever.

    3. "move on" from what exactly? I don't understand. :S

    2. I've empathized with many fictional characters, I never believed they were real though. I never felt their fear, but I have felt their awe, love and happiness, weird. 3. Have you seen Casablanca? I won't ruin the end for you.

I Think Avatar so far because it is one of the few (if not only) shows I 've seem where a guy can be comic relief and still have moves. Sokka and Iroh are Kickass!!!
