Zuko went many different directions in this episode. His behavior in the beginning shown that he had changed. Then he changed and decided to fight Azula. Then he changed again when he was stuck with Katara. Then he changed ONCE MORE in the end. I don't think Zuko has metomorphosized as much as I first thought. He's still confused, but doesn't hate himself anymore. THAT'S nice to know Zu Zu. I think Iroh will bring him back. Iroh was all Zuko had and now he realizes what his actions have truly caused. Zuko didn't know Iroh would help Aang or that he would give up to the Dai Li. Zuko has never thought what his actions might cause and now he HAS to. I only hope it's before Iroh is executed because WE ALL know what happens to traitors. That will be the time Zuko will turn around. But I'm glad about the Zuko/Katara moments. Especially when she looked back when they left the cave. I think she understood him a little better than before. It's a hard decision that Zuko made. This went through my head after the finale was over: Zuko was raised to believe that his nation was doing the right thing. It's just like religion. The parents usually determine what religion the children will continue into their adulthood. What would anyone do in Zuko's shoes? Betray his family or join them? How can any child make that decision lightheartedly? No matter what your family has done to you, you will always love them. I TRULY think that's the only real reason Zuko joined Azula. And the main reason he regrets it was that Iroh has to be the one to suffer. |
I found this quote on another thread; figured it fit what everyone's talking about here. Seriously, if you guys were Zuko, and you had to chose whether to betray your family or join them, how many of you could very easily decide to betray your family? And on top of that, betray your family and join someone you have considered an enemy for so long?

This is all part of Zuko and Iroh's plan remember they were left alone by Azula and it took Zuko some time to catch up with her so that means he was with Iroh for some time. The entire Azula lies was made pretty obvious that Zuko wouldn't trust Azula...Also remember when Zuko was fighting Katara she said "I thought you changed" and he said "I have!" a sign?
I say Iroh and Zuko made this as part of their plan remember what Bumi said Neutral Jin.

I agree. If Zuko hasn't learned by now that his sister is a liar, he's incredibly thick headed. I'll bet that Azula played him so it would be easier to defeat Aang and Katara. |
