Well, that's not true. I did understand A word it said . . . I think it said the word "energy" once or twice, but I didn't understand anything else it said. Could someone please tell me to the closest, most unabridged accuracy they can? It'd be much appreciated.

"For those of you who want to know what the lion turtle said, here it is: (This is the scene where Aang first meets the lion turtle)
Lion Turtle: The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can touch the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since the beginnings of time, darkness thrives in the void, but will always yeild to purified light.
(This is during the scene where Aang has his hands on Ozai's forhead and chest)
Lion Turtle: In the era before the avatar, we bent not the (can't understand this word) but the energy within ourselves. To bend another's energy, your own spirit must be unbendable or you will be corrupted and destroyed.
Hope this clears some things up." - kkg14

The word you didn't know was "elements".
We bent not the elements but the energy within ourselves.

I rewatched the episode, and when Aang first meets the lionturtle, the lionturtle says something after the lines you quoted, after he set Aang on the cliff.
Any idea what it was?
