What are the kataang kids going to bend

What kind of bender do you think Katara and Aang's kids are?

    Actually no. If we are talking about genetics, Aang is a through and through Airbender - he is an Air Nomad, after all. He is spiritually connected to the other elements through his past lives.

    If we argue the matter spiritually, Air probably still comes out on top. Air is Aang's natural element - the one he learned first, etc, etc. And once spitiual matters get involved, then destiny matters are soon to follow, seizing on the fact that it would be most convenient if Aang and Katara had an Airbending child.

    see that's exactly what I thought too, but it would kind of contradict the title of the show... not that it matters much, but still, Aang is supposed to be the last airbender.

    He is the last Airbender - the last one still alive. Now that he's ended the war, and found a girlfriend, his biggest objective at the moment is ceasing to be the last Airbender. if you catch my drift

    Well, first of all, I think that their kids are definately going to be airbenders because of two reasons:

    1. Aang needs a lineage of airbenders because the airbending tradition needs to carry on after he dies; what's the point of having no airbenders when the avatar is reincarnated? (the avatar won't be able to learn airbending, and the cycle might be broken).

    2. On Nick . com, in the airbender history, it states that all people born from the air nomad tribe are airbenders. ALL of the air nomads are benders. This, to me, makes me believe that airbending is a dominant trait.

    And really, Aang is a member of all four elements. Remember when he was working with that guru, about how to open the chakaras and control his avatar state? he said "You are the avatar, and that means that you are a firebender." Now, whether it's genetic, probably not--but who's to say genetics make the bender? If bending is genetic, how could Aang take Ozai's firebending away? by changing his genetics?

    I am sure genetics are a factor in whether one has bending ability. If you look at the FN royal family, the family members that are genetically linked to the royal family (Sozin, Azula, Iroh, Zuko and et al) are all gifted firebenders. That would seem to indicate some sort of genetic predisposition...at least, it does to me.
