Don't hate me, I'm just trying to think of topics that have not been discussed yet.

I just got through watching "The Puppetmaster." I was wondering why the Fire Nation felt so threatened by the Southern Water Tribe that, after capturing the last Southern Waterbender (Hama), they felt they had to raid again (the death of Sokka and Katara's mother).

If this already has a thread, sorry. Trying to find topic that has not been discussed is almost as hard as trying to find someone that "The Simpsons" hasn't spoofed.

    first!

well, i have yet to see avatar spoofed on the simpsons

to answer your origional question, i think that they got rid of the waterbenders for because they were the nearest threat. if you look at the map, other than the air nomad lands, the south pole is the nearest nation to the fire nation. they wanted to eliminate any possible threats to ensure their success. appearently it worked

It was probably also because the next Avatar will be a Water Tribe member. Even though they seemed very sure that the Air Nomad Avatar (Aang) was still alive, I think it was a precaution.

The Fire Nation Army is ruthless. They'll do absolutely anything to win, including constantly raiding already wiped out lands just to ensure their victory.
