I've heard rumours that Toph was supposed to a boy, the guy in the intro that Earthbends. While looking through the old sneek peek trailer for Avatar, I noticed an Earthbending boy, and I wondered if it was Toph or not before she was changed into the present Toph. The Avatar people made a lot of changes from the trailer to the present Avatar.

You know, i just posted that picture asking the same thing. Their clothes look the same.

I don't know about that boy being a proto-Toph, it's possible, but it seemed to me that General Fong was the earth bender in the credits.
