As I began to anylize the latest episodes that came out recently I realized that the Fire Nation attacked the other nations at a slow pace giving the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom a perfect chance to get back at the Fire Nation's military for their act of genocide on the Air Nomads. For Example on episode "The Puppetmaster" Hama reveals that the Southern Water Tribe raids started 60 years ago from the current date giving them no aliby to team up with the Earth Kingdom even if it was divided. Another great Example was the revealence made by Chief Arnook in " The Siege of the North: part one" when he mentioned that the Fire Nation attacked their city especifically 85 years ago from the avatar date. Lastly the city of Ba Sing Se should have acted upon shortly after the siege of back then, General Iroh by co-working with the Northen and Southern Water Tribes.

Perhaps the other three nations working together? It would seem that they do not really interact with each other and the air temples were hidden.

The earth kingdom is interesting, it is so vast with many rulers (earth king and king bumi) so perhaps they are divided as well.

Yes, the Earth Kingdom is extremely divided. It's a huge country with little to no infrastructure (roads, railways etc) so communication is extremely difficult. You saw how long it took Aang, Katara and Sokka to cross it, even with a flying bison.

The Earth Kingdom's size means it's nearly impossible for it to be united. It's like Russia in WW1, it failed because the infrastructure was poor due to its immense size.

I can't say I fully understand, but I think what's being said is that the Fire Nation worked as one and capped off each of the nations before they could team up.

The Air Nomads had four different temples in four different places. The Water Tribe is mainly in the poles, which are also spaced apart. And we all know how HUGE the Earth Kingdom is. None of them really seem to be close neighbors and the Fire Nation seemed to take advantage of that.

Of course it needed to be corrected but it was just a lack of communication, and probably too much faith in the Avatar.

Ok, I think I get what he means:

Why was there no large counter-attack on the FN by a fully united WT and EK army?

Well to answer, I think its cause the FN out manuvered them. Shock and Awe, baby. Hit em hard, hit em fast, hit em often.

Everybody is so worn out on defense they can't organize an offense.

Its basically an neat mix of a North Vietnamese style hit and run policy and an American Shock and Awe doctrine.

Its also my strategy in Civilization 4.
