Who do you think is going to be the voice of Iroh in season 3? I have no idea, according to Wikipedia this guy was Mako's understudy at one point. He has big shoes to fill. Mako was excellent in this role. He really captured the emotional element of the character. The pain Iroh feels for the death of his son, and how he cares about Zuko, he did it perfectly.

I can think of any older??actor that could do that at the moment? Maybe the person that voiced Juong Juong, Kerone Young could do it. He has experienced playing that role, opposite Dante Basco the voice of Zuko, on Disney Channel's American Dragon: Jake Long, but I seriously doubt he could capture the emotion of Iroh.

Yesterday I saw the "The Tale Of Iroh" in the episode "Tale Of Ba Sen Se", at the end when he visited his son's grave on his birthday, that was so sad.

I agree, whoever does the voice is probably going to have to sound like Iroh at least a little anyway

Sorry this board get flooded with new threads so much, that topic get buried very quickly. I found that thread you were referring to, is was on page 5, until I moved it up by posting.

Is there a thread for discussing the Water Book DVD set?

the creators seemed confident that the understudy has captured Irohs character. After working so much with Mako and seeing how he portrayed the character I'm thinking he'll do a fine job.

of course some will still complain that the origional voice is better, and they would be right, no one can truely replace Mako, but I would much rather have someone who has studied for years under him and sound different than someone who sounds just like him but has no idea how to effectively portray his character.

    and now for a joke:
how many fanboys does it take to screw in a light bulb......
10, one to screw in the bulb, the other nine to complain how the origional was better

Haven't you heard him already? The 'guy' (can't remember his name) appeared in Tales of Ba Sing Se, where you clearly hear the difference, but he seems to have settled in now and he sounds pretty good. Missing the flow and slighty more gruogh yet cheerful voice of Mako, but this guy is good enough.
