what would be some cool moves if you combined two benders?(except for the avatar, of course),??for example, a water/air bender could make fog to obstuct a foes vision.

I think if you were a fire/earth bender. You could pull up a rock, catch it on fire, and then kick it at someone. Sorta making a comet.

regular waterbenders can already manipulate water vapor, so that's not really a combination...

    Air + Fire = lightning
    Earth + fire = metal
Air + earth = sand (already seen sandbenders)

ligtning doesn't have air in it and sand doesn't have air in it. metal doesn't have fire in it either. sand and metal can be formed by those things, but they don't have that stuff in it.

Lightning doesn't have air in it, yes, but lightning travels THROUGH air. No air, no lightning. Lightning doesn't travel through earth or water.... Sand is blown BY the air... rocks can't be blown by air, but little bits, like sand, can be. Metal is formed by forging raw materials, or ore, in a smelter at high temps. Metal needs fire to be formed from earth.

Those relationships are not necessarily one of content, but one of symbiosis. Even fire needs air to ignite and sustain....

lightning seems to fall under the fire category. but with stuff that's made up of more than one element [clouds, mud, etc.] either type of bender could work with it. like the slurry coming out of the fire nation drill worm thing.

the four elements aren't actually elements. in fact, fire isn't even matter, so technically, there's no fire in anything. but science just takes the fun out of everything, so screw that noise.

Elements aren't science. It's the East's (China, Japan, Korea, etc) view of the world. The West (Greco-Romans) had something similar with personality types called the Four Humors. Choleric, Sanguine, Phlegmatic, and Melancholic.

Here's an excellent article on them:?? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_humours

??It compares the humours with the four element types in the East.

And I didn't mean to harp on anyone from my earlier posts about dual elements... was just giving my opinion.
