Toph vs. Katara

Who would win? (Pretend they are both in their environment)

    True, Azula is a powerful bender, but i'm sure it takes alot out of her conjuring fire/lightning and bending.

Add to the fact that she can practically detect attacks coming from ANY direction AND counter multiple attacks from different directions, then that's a huge plus for toph.
    3)?? As for Azula's fighting prowess, well the last time she fought Katara, Katara was practically owning her until Zuko interrupted her.?? Also, though Azula is a fighting prodigy, who's saying that Toph isn't??? The fact that Toph got this good practically on her own is proof enough of her genius.


    No offense, but what has that got to to with Toph Versus Katara?

    Exactly what I was thinking. Toph hates water. We saw that in The Serpents Pass. So if they were on a little piece of land surrounded by water, I'd bet on Katara. But any other time I'd probably vote for Toph.

    If there is no body of water where they fight Toph will win easily.

    If there is a large supply of water it becomes a different fight. I still think in the end Toph would win, but it would be a much closer and better fight.

    If Katara some how did force Toph into the water then obviously she would win, ut that is not very likely.

    all katara would need to do is lift toph off land with water, gg toph since she couldn't see and if katara moved well it's over.

    Not to??mention both scenerios had??a heavy, "stormtrooper effect" to them. Notice how??other than that we have??had many water vs.??earth fights. I think its because, and lets face it, even??with the "...-bending is balanced out as to not be more or less powerful than the other arts. The series has repeatedly illustrated that it's the skill and prowess of the user that determines victory.", yeah I??just do not see water doing all that much to earth in a one-on-one duel. If it??did, the??circumstances would most likely??be heavily towards the??waterbender's??favor, (including suspicious temporary power boosts that die down after the duel). Perhaps why its been avoided so much. Yeah all this does is help Toph.

    In my opinion, Toph is extremely overrated. I don't hate her character, but she bugs me sometimes. Nevertheless, I agree that Toph will beat Katara, but I doubt that Katara would be defeated in a matter of seconds like some people said.

    Suffice it too say, they've all gotton kinda overated. I honestly believe the only people they express even the slightest bit of temperence with are Zuko (who's skills and style have been clearly and gradually evolving) and Toph who's been at it for a good 6yrs and has a disability that correlates to her bending. In terms of characterization,??I??hope they go back to developing her (avoiding reverts)??instead??simply just showing what a kickass??bender/fighter she is.??Huh.??Anyway??I really see some potential in her character as well as some of the others.??And no, even though there are a lot of substatial??aspects going for that scenerio, the creators making Katara go down that quickly is highly unlikely. ...Unless of course the plot called for it, naturally.

    I agree, I am so sick of that. People complain about Katara too, but they only had her "win" in 1 episode, unlike Toph who wins every fight. I really don't like where they went with Toph, like you said, I like her but she annoys me sometimes. Her winning every fight and being "the best earthbender" is stupid. She has to start losing more. I hope she meets her match in Season 3. Anyway I picked Katara because I hated Toph at the time. LOL No seriously, I believe Katara COULD win, but whatever it won't happen and I suggest to anyone who disagrees with me to keep it themselves please, because many people have already discussed this and I don't feel like being bashed for saying Toph might actually lose a fight for once. Thanks.

    Katara would have some chance... If they were in the middle of the ocean. Or desert (with Katara's water holding thingy) Or mid air. That would be interesting. What about without bending? Bare hands? DEFINATELY Toph. She's very strong. Katara= wuss, when it comes down to your bare hands. With water, though, I wouldn't underestimate her.

    Like a lot of other people are pointing out, it depends on the environment that they are in. If there is little or no water around, obviously Toph would win, but I think if there was a lot of water around, then Katara would win becuase of the ability to freeze people. I think that they are equally matched.

    On another note, I think that Katara and Toph's strength is equal and here is why-

    Toph is very strong. She has been practicing eath bending for six years and has been called the best earthbender there is. Katara however, managed to become a great waterbender in a matter of a few training sessions. Unlike Toph, she has had nobody to teach her the basics of waterbending. I understand that Toph learned a good amount on her own, but most likely after she learned the basics. So my point is, Katara and Toph seem to be equal in strength based on Toph's ability to Earthbend and Katara's ability to waterbend and to learn waterbending quickly.
