Zuko is not the main vilain anymore, like Katara said in CoD, She have imaginaed the face of the enemy, but now Azula is the real vilain even more of OZai himself ! Its the main difference between the first season and the second, He changed, even if he choose the side of Azula, but even then, Zuko is protecting aang by saying that he was surely dead. Again, Zuko is a lot better, but He will be restored at the fire temple. Maiko will fall, certainly look at the scene on the ship ! And of course, Aang will understand his true destiny, by having multiple visions (ee, well, thats the reason, so no girls for him)

I never thought of Zuko protecting Aang by saying that he's surely dead, I thought he was just trying to cover his own as$, because if he said "He might be alive." Azula would tell Ozai that he killed the Avatar anyway, and once they find out he's alive it'll be the same situation that will inevitably come about.

That does prove a good point, though. Zuko has taken Aang's place, Aang has taken Zuko's place as a dishonored individual, and Azula has taken over Zuko's role as the main villain.

Except that the entire purpose of "The Awakening" was to show how though Aang was in Zuko's situation, he would make different choices. Aang hasn't become Zuko at all.

Very interesting thoughts here. However, the one thing about this show is that they leave signs of what could lead in the story. Some of the signs they have left for us are simple.

I have said this for some time now and I am hoping to see it come true in this season. Here goes:

Ursa is still alive. She has been hidden for some time. In fact, I think she will come out in the painted lady episode. Think about this for a moment. She left Zuko with the thought, "Everything I have done has been to protect you." So this leads to believe that she has set things up for him. Now I would not put it past her that she spoke with Iroh prior to her leaving. Based on the information given to us in Zuko Alone, we have enough information to surmise that she is in hiding right now and that Iroh was very close to Zuko. Look how Zuko defended Iroh from his letter.

Speaking of his letter, remember the part where Azula says, "If Uncle doesn't make it back from war, then dad would be next in line to be Fire Lord, wouldn't he?" This line makes me think that there was a plot to ensure Ozai to be FL. The reason why I say that is because suddenly Iroh loses his son. Hmmm. That seems convenient. Suddenly Ozai is before Azulon pleading his case for him to reconsider Iroh as the next FL.

Woah!!!! That just makes a ton of sense right now. Now what if the plans were overheard by Ursa and she knew that the war was wrong at this point because of the incident with Iroh's son? So she planned to maintain Zuko as the next heir the throne so he could stop the war. What better person to do the job then Iroh.

    Dun Dun Dun...

Guess what, now Iroh stays by Zuko's side to guide him since his mother left. Iroh techinically has become a father to Zuko. Think about this line from Iroh in the Guru episode, "No, I'm thankful because you decided to share this special day with me. (puts a hand on Zuko's arm) It means more than you know. (Zuko gives him a warm hug, to his surprise)" Now his guidance has been carefully plotted up to the point when he says, "You are not the man you used to be, Zuko. You are stronger and wiser and freer than you have ever been. And now you have come to the crossroads of your destiny. It's time for you to choose. It's time for you to choose good!"

So here is my completed theory. Zuko is not going to die because that would leave no one to rule the FN. Zuko is far too important of a character to kill off. He really holds the hopes of the end of the war and the future of the FN in his hands. Ozai might die or be imprisoned, Azula will also be imprisoned, and Zuko will befriend Aang. You are probably saying, "Yeah right! Zuko friends with Aang. Ha ha ha." Well guess what, the writers kind of led to the that fact in the Blue Spirit episode. Aang says, "You know what the worst part about being born over a hundred years ago is? I miss all the friends I used to hang out with. Before the war started (cut to Aang still looking down at the ground), I used to always my friend Kuzan. The two of us, we'd get in and out of so much trouble together. He was one of the best friends I ever had (he turns to face Zuko) and he was from the Fire Nation, just like you. (Cut back to Zuko still looking at Aang.) If we knew each other back then (cut back to Aang), do you think we could have been friends too?"

Those are some nice points... and I agree, too much has happened to simply kill off Zuko and it's quite likely that Ursa's alive so they can expand Zuko's storyline even further.

Kuzan? Kuzan?! This explains a lot... the alias name that Aang chose for himself was just like that of his old Fire Nation buddy.

I wonder if the original Kuzan is still alive... Bumi is after all!

I'd like to remind you that Iroh fell on ground looking "dead" once before, having been shot at the heart by Azula's flaming stream of death. It wasn't until the next episode that we saw him recover. Couldn't a similar experience happen to Zuko?

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but i hope zuko dies now in the third season cause he has totally drifted away from the cool zuko he once was, i like that hes good now but did they have to make him such a loser? they could have made him a dark brooding good guy, i mean honestly. also he's supposed to be the oldest of the gaang except sokka's dad but he acts like a little child all the time, the only way to redeam his character would be for him to die saving a member of the gaangs life. I'm definitely not excited for another season if this keeps up, if you don't agree watch the first and second seasons then watch this one you'll die a little on the inside, i think the creators have lost the love they once had for the series....

I think Zuko is even cooler than before. He's a lot less whiny. He's more together and less conflicted than we was in S2.

I have a theory that if Ozai dies, Iroh's going to die. Sort of Yin and Yang type of thing. Ozai = Yin and Iroh = Yang. If Yin is gone, there's an imbalance, so in theory, Iroh would have to die as well.

Now, Azula would also be Yin, and Zuko is Yang. There's a good possibility that Azula will die, soo.. Zuko would have to die too. Now, if Azula doesn't die, and just.. goes somewhere, in Zuko wouldn't have to die.

I'm rambling, but balance is a big theme in Avatar, and they keep acting like only "evil" has to die. So how is that balance?

Ok ban me! Are you on drugs? Xperimental maybe letal drugs? Zuko's cool yet and he will be cooler once more I mean he freakin stood against Ozai and there's some thing called remorse and guilt that makes him stand the harrasment of the group it's completely logical!

J/K. I dunno. It's a kid's show. They usually don't kill off characters in kids shows.

Zhao, Yue, Jet, hundreds of nameless FN soldiers, most likely Ozai, possibly Azula.

Bryke have proven that they are not afraid to kill off characters. Whether it's going to be a good major character, I don't know.

Allow me to clarify: they usually don't kill off well-liked, turned-good major characters.

    And Yue's not actually dead.

Well, I didn't like Jet. He was a jerk in the 1st ep and a p?$$33 in subsequent ones. But that's a different thread.

Well-liked, maybe. Major, I wouldn't necessarily say that.
