    I am rewatching the series for fun today and I start noticing that every episode has a purpose even if the purpose isn't known right away.?? Like "Jet" to introduce Jet and his freedom fighters.?? For such a short series you can't really have a lot of filler.??

    So the episode "The Great Divide" what was its purpose??? Obviously to introduce The Zhangs and The Gon Jin, so what part do you think they will play later in the series??? They were on their way to Ba Sing Sei when the Aang Gang met up with them.??

    Also, do you think that they will find out about Aang's lie?

    I hope they'll all meet up again.

    Which wall/tier/caste would they inhabit? Would they even be on the same one?

    I believe there's a whole lot of continuing-story potential that would be lost had that episode not existed.

    The Gan Jins and the Zhangs were incredibly annoying. I say the Great Divide was a filler; and a pretty bad one at that. All it did was introduce Ba Sing Se, Aang's role of maintaining peace, and these two idiotic clans. I hope they don't come back.

    no offense to the creator of this, but shouldn't this belong in the spoilers and speculations thread or even the Ask a Question Get an Answer II thread?

    It isn't spoilers unless it is like "The Zhangs are coming back!"
    and I thought the Q&A topic is for questions that have real answers, not ones that you can argue like this

    "The Great Divide" was a crap filler that didn't and won't add anything to the story line so let's just forget it and move on.

    Yep, I think it belongs in the Ask a Question Get an Answer II thread, since it is for simple questions an anyone can answer.??

    The gates in the flashbacks greatly resemble the gate at the Spirit Oasis... perhaps they are both portals to the Spirit World that Aang uses in a later episode?

    I think this is a fine thread. We could theoretically put almost any thread into one of the pinned ones, but then we would have 4 threads, each with about 1,000,000 topics going on at once. At the same?? time we need to be careful not to make to many threads, and most questions should be put in the Ask a Question thread.
