As we have seen, in the great city of Ba Sing Se, people are brainwashed, the war is a banned subject, it's memories have either been surpressed or forgotten by many citizens. Long Feng and the Dei Lei saw to it for presumabley many years. Now, however, Azula is in charge of the Dei Lei and things are about to change. What kind of a shock/panic will ring throughout the city when people start to wake up the morning after the great battle in Old Ba Sing Se to find a fire nation princess running the show, with the fire nation prince that many tea lovers in the city thought of as a good friend, and what will they think of Iroh if they see him again? And about the whole ordeal:

Will the city dwellers revolt? Will they stay silent in fear? Will they continue to go about their lives as if nothing out of the ordinary has taken place? Will they even be allowed to? (My guess is no, Ba Sing Se will end up being run by the fire nation like the village Haru came from. No bending allowed, taxes through the roof, FN police everywhere, etc).

Whatever happens, however, I'm sure that there will be a HUGE shock factor and a real wakeup call for these people.

I don't see how it will be relevent to the actual plot of the show, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out for the earth kingdom capitol which had remained safe (and naive) for so many years......

I really don't know ang can manage losing another city, if he can't win this fight, the final battle will only consist of a few villagers, the water tribe and the ang squad!

i dont think much will change. why would azula risk having a widespread panic and a possible revolt instead of silently staying in control gradually fire nationing it up (yes i just turned fire nation into a verb)

I agree, if anything why cant they just keep brainwashing people or even washing their minds so clean they fight for the FN against the GAang?

Azula is smart,(as is earthqueenazula it would appear) so she would know that with the population and resources of Ba Sing Se she has a BIGFOOT hold (not sasquatch) in the earth kingdom, so why attack it when she's got it in the palm of her hands.

Who's to say they'll even know? Azula could use Long Feng as her puppet out in society, and people won't think anything of it. No one ever saw the Earth King before Aang and the others took him out of the palace. They could quietly, one-by-one, brainwash the citizens into being loyal to the Fire Nation, and once they're all brainwashed, reveal Azula as the new ruler of the city.

I agree. they probably won't know, I mean why would the gang leave the city if the civilians there would rebel(which they obviously would if they knew the firenation took over)

Do you know how long that would take to brainwash every single person in Ba Sing Se? It would be like getting everyone in Henan province in China and trying to brainwash them all. It would take forever, or people would find out about it. Also at the speed of each brainwash alone would make the whole process take years.

While that may be true they don't need to brainwash everyone, as pooldude says hardly no-one ever saw the earth king. Think about the reach and sheer infiltration of the dai lee, the city doesn't even know theres a war on and those who do don't know for much longer. When one guy out of the hundred of thousands that live in Ba Sin Se tries to accuse someone of being Fire Nation the Dai lee know about straight away and sort it out. We know this to be true from Jet's exploits.

Soimagine being able to control Ba Sing Se via the Dai lee like the sims which is pretty much whats been happening for so long.

Loyal Dai lee= Pocket sized ba Sing Se

It's in Azula's best interests to not completely reveal that she has Ba Sing Se, the Dai Li does have secret files on everyone, and then there's all those Joo Dee's they could gradually brainwash everyone, it's not like the Fire Nation has anything to hurry about...like Azula says, "Whoever controls the Dai Li, control Ba Sing Se." If Aang wasn't to take back Ba Sing Se he'll need to neutralize the Dai Li somehow...

The city knows there is a war, or at least the people in the lower ring do since they are refugees but they cannot talk about the war.

Or the Dai Li will??take them...hm...that'd be a good means of infiltrating Ba Sing Se wouldn't it? Aang sporting grown out hair, starts a fight, gets taken in by the Dai Li, breaks out and is right in the heart of Ba Sing Se....

What Azula could do is just send all of Ba Sing Se's guards to a Fire Nation ambush, or just tell them they can go home. Then Azula posing as the Earth King (Since no one would see her face and it would just be a royal decree) could say that the Fire Nation has called a truce and to help maintain order and modernize Ba Sing Se Fire Nation troops will be deployed in the city to revitalize the city. From there they can offer "tours" of the Fire Nation and get rid of people slowly.

Although I wish there would have been a epic battle in Ba Sing Se on the likes of Stalingrad.

I say the Dai Li will continue to brainwash ppl. But a few ppl may try to start a revolt such as that rogue Dai Li agent and the Freedom Fighters.
