This sho cannot be getting that high of rating to be made fun of by those shows.
Actually, the simpsons alludes to and parodies the most obscure things constantly, you just don't notice because of how obscure the references are and how well they are integrated into the plot. For example, in the episode with the ribwich, whenever Homer bites into a fast foot rib sanwich, they zoom in on on the sandwich entering his mouth, then show his blood cells swiftly flowing through an artery, and then a shot of just a pupil dialating. Though this scene is by itself funny enough in demonstrating the power of the ribwich, it is also an allusion to the film, "Requiem for a Dream," which wasn't even widely released and grossed under 4 million domestic beacause the director refused to cut the scenes neccessary to rid it of its NC-17 rating. In the movie, the exact same set of shots follow every time a character injects himself or smokes heroin or pot. And the point of this is not so much that the addictiveness of fast food sandwiches is comperable to that of cocaine, but rather that absolutely nothing is safe from the parodies of Family Guy and the Simpsons.

Meh maybe when your???e younger, once you get older wiser and worldly, they stick out like a sore thumb. There are sometimes when I just wana yell out ???Did they have to do that one? Is that all they???ve got now???? Worst of all, its usually stuff we???ve seen so many times beforehand. You know I???ve seen that Requiem thing on Drawn Together, Hey Arnold, and God knows what else (didn???t care for the movie). Overused pop culture references, gotta love em. She didn???t really have heat exhaustion, we get it.

Anyways When I saw the first matrix and Neo wants to know what the matrix is and he is "shown" it always reminded me of when Krishna in the poem of Bhagavad Gita tells the worrior Arjuna the true nature of reality, but then again maybe I was OVER ANAYLZING IT.

Now I wonder if you actually expect anyone to have ever heard of that poem, or if you are rather just poking fun at my bringing up a film that probably no one who will ever read this has seen.

EDIT: Ok, someone has seen it.?? I guess the movie is better circulated that I thought.

Family Guy in perticular has some really blatent parodies. Often you know that they are making fun of something even if you don't know what it is.

How sure are you that Hey Arnold alluded to Requiem?

Meh, pretty sure. The show's pretty old now though and it was just an example. I've noticed that whenever- Dexter's Laboratory that's the other one I was thinking of. U know when they drank coffee? That's how they usually do it. They think that most kids don't drink coffee so they make it seem all??weird or extraordinary with the use of that "allusion". ...Yeah. ??
