    clearly our mothers are 2 completely differnet people, my mom would never, ever, EVAR, watch an episode of Avatar or any anime, (my mom probably doesn't even know what anime is!) But I can't blame her, she grew up in a totally different society/environment than me, we might as well be worlds' apart.

    It's actually for the pronunciation. Know how Mark Twain would "raght wurds like dis sumtimes to emphasize the diff'rnt dialect?" "Keed" is used in that same way.
