??We all know that there are stages or different levels of skill in bending.?? For example, for fire benders, the next level is bending lightning, for water, its turning water to ice, healing or plant bending.?? For earthbenders, its metalbending which btw, only Toph knows at this point.?? (for those who disagree with this, go here:???????? Nick itself says so! Oh, and it was ZenNuclearPower who saw it first and pointed it out in page 2 of the thread, "Toph isn't the only one")

Now i'm wondering.?? What if the next level or Airbending is.....?? Weather bending!

Just imagine how powerful Aang would be if he mastered that.?? Heck, he wouldn't need the avatar state anymore.?? I mean, no nation, no matter how powerful can win against the power of nature.

Think its logical??? Think its feasable?

Sorry, forgot to put the link to the Toph metalbending here's the exact quote from ZenNuklearPower:

Am I the only one that actually checks this site when new episodes come out? http://www.nick.com/all_nick/tv_supersites/avatar2/index.jhtml?game_name=avatar_autumn&_requestid=1432638

its one heck of a link, but its a really cool info site. If you go to the Guru (click the spot on the map for it) then to Gear and More (which shows new techiniques/items the Gaang finds) you find this under metalbending:

"This is a type of bending that only Toph is able to do. She is able to do it because in metal there is always a trace amount of Earth. Usually the amount of earth still in metal is so small that it's undetectable even by the best Earthbenders. But Toph is better than the best Earthbenders -- maybe it's because she is blind and has always used the Earth to see -- or maybe it's just because she is that awesome."

So there you have it, straight from the horses mouth.

Weatherbending would just be large scale Airbending. Make a hurricane or tornado or whatever with alot of wind. A cool idea, but a new level of bending? I don't know.??

I??came up with my own lil creation: Soundbending(not 100% orignal, but what is?). An airbender would change the air density or create vacuums in the air, making a sound softer or louder. That could possibly deafen an opponent. Or use it in the dark an your opponent wouldn't know where sounds are coming from. You make the air dense behind them, but thin it in above??and a sound could possibly sound like its coming from behind, when you're right on top of their heads ready to leap down and do what ever to them. How's about that?

Edit: btw Nick's official website is, ironically, NOT the best place for info on the show, sometimes they get things wrong or just inaccurate.

The closest thing we have seen to weather bending is when Aang changed the shape of the clouds in The Fortuneteller

you'd need air and water for real weatherbending. as for soundbending, it's absolutely concievable to control air vibrations, but i imagine it would be impractically difficult to sork with something so precise.

That's why it would be the perfect move for an adult Avatar Aang.

I'm sorry, but ur designation of "the next level" is way off imo.

Katara could turn water to ice when she could BARELY WATERBEND, and healing isn't exactly the next level of a bending considering the little kids learn how to do it... plant bending... considering katara owned that guy I wouldn't say he was a more advanced bender.

    Fire, I agree with...
Earth... I'm not sure if that's the "next level" I think metal bending is unique and requires a severe connection with earth while lightning requires more of a conscience of mind?

Air.. the next level of bending would most likely creating weather such as a tornado and being able to let it loose.

I'm sure Aang is a more powerful airbender than he shows, remember that he holds back every time he bends except in the fortuneteller, that was pretty impressive

"The Desert" too. He destroyed a couple sand sailers and took out that buzzard wasp. If he hit Zuko(in "Crossroads of Destiny") like he did in "The Desert" there would be no more Zuko??or perhaps Aang is just??more powerful when he's using his staff...

True, true, but its only sometimes.?? People at Nick are only human.?? However, until proven otherwise, the fact of Toph being the only metalbender stands.??

First of all, please indicate what episodes show her turning water to ice as a novice waterbender and child waterbenders learning healing since i can't remember seeing that, so i can check and see for myself cuz i remember katara using ice bending against Zuko only when she was able to really pwn him.

Just not to confuse others, i'd like to define "the next level of bending" as the ability to bend other elements related to or is another form of the original element being bended, but not necessarily more powerful.?? For example, from firebending, the next level would be lightning bending since lightning is another form of fire.?? From Earth bending, Metal bending since metal is also related to earth.

But that is just my opinon Btw.??

I'd like to hear what you think the next level of bending would be.

Soundbending IS a very interesting skill.?? But i don't think it would be useful in a direct-approach-type attack.?? I think it would be more useful for ninja-type characters or spy-type characters, since not only could you nullify sound to avoid detection, you could also amplify sound so you could hear secret conversations from afar.?? Or, as a despirate resort if you ARE detected, you could amplify your scream to painful levels to escape from guards or angry women you were peeping on.

Another very useful but rather boring application for sound bending would be on movie theaters.?? You could actually??re-define surround sound with that skill!

If indeed you'd need to control BOTH air and water and possibly even fire since weather is influenced by temperature as well, then Aang would be the only airbender to be able to pull it off.?? Remember that he's the avatar and can control all four elements!

"The Waterbending Master" showed Katara could turn water to ice when Master Pakku didn't even train her. And in "The Deserter" Katara could naturally heal her burns...

Katara froze the firebenders in the very first episode, The Boy in the Iceburg. That was before she could even control te deriction it went in, so it must b very novice. The children learning healing was from The Waterbending Master, Katara was in the same class as 6 or 7 year olds.

    no let's go earlier
episode 2 on the ship when she accidentally froze sokka then the guards... yea episode 2
Episode 18- little kids were in the healing huts, katara was way older than them. I think that counts
