    Oh and something else.

Kataang is weird. You know why? Because Kataras relationship of Aang was maternal!!!! their dialogue was dry, and she is far mature past her years, while he, due to his period of isolation and lack of adult influence is very immature for his age. people will say "nooo he saved the freaking world." yeah ok, unrealistic. besides the the fact that makes katara a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge couagar.

And that is why I find most Anti-Kataang viewers lacking in validity. They think relationships should follow a sterotypical standard. For that same reason, people object to Maiko, because the manly man should get the girl with a the outlook of a Barbie doll (Mai's far from ugly, but she doesn't conform to the sterotypical girlish standards). Much like how Aang had to find his own way to ensure peace, a couple must make their own rules and standards rather than copying the lifestyles of other couples (i.e. Boyfriend has to be same age or older, girlfriend has be girlish).

god im not sterotyping. i can take this much deeper if you want. i'll focus on maiko for a second. i don't have an issue with the fact that she's more manly. It's an issue that they have conflicting profiles. She will basically end up ripping him to shreds because they are both too drawn back and slightly isolated, except for the fact that zuko has experienced life as a private citizen while she has not. On the the other hand she in controling and dominering, while zuko is controling and at the same time secluded. She will overpower his descions he will disagree, the will wrip each other apart. Aang is pure, immature, due to the fact that he has a lack of exposure to adults. Katara, because she was exposed to war and death at such a young age as matured past her years, and takes on a maternal role (yes to everyone in group) but because Aang is younger, it seems to be more prelevant to him. Although she is typically a goody-two-shoes, she has a very strong dark side, bottled up, which is the reason for alot of her anger, and the one incident were she devolved and became revenge hungry. She will always have this dark side, which is another thing that Aang cannot understand. THERE. WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. I TAKE THINGS TO A WHOOOOOOLE NEW LEVEL!

    god im not sterotyping.

Then you need to take into account that the aformentioned characters will mature and be even more suitable for their respective partner. Besides, even the successful relationships have their obstacles. That's another problem I find with the anti-ships in question. They seem to think it better to pair someone up with a partner that's convenient and easy. Relationships worth having are more likely to be hard than easy.

i can take this much deeper if you want. i'll focus on maiko for a second. i don't have an issue with the fact that she's more manly. It's an issue that they have conflicting profiles. She will basically end up ripping him to shreds because they are both too drawn back and slightly isolated, except for the fact that zuko has experienced life as a private citizen while she has not.

Zuko's time with the Gaang has made him into a more easy going person. Heck, he shared a friendly hug with Aang, someone that Season 1 or 2's Zuko wouldn't even consider. Mai has shown to be more easy going thanks to some of the time she and Zuko been together. She even shunned aside her fears for Azula.

While Aang has shown many moments of being childish, he has shown moments of maturity just the same. And while he didn't getting to the point of being bloodthirsty, he has allowed for his anger to get to the point of being uncomfortable for his friends. Sure, Katara's vengeful, but she still has a fair amount of optimisim within her. Her choice to forgive Zuko helps in that aspect.

It would no doubt have been an interesting ending if Katara ended up liking Zuko. She could show her affection to him in private, he sees them, and as they both run after him, he takes off for the island (lion turtle). Then, after talking to the avatars and the air nomad told Aang not what she said, but something like, "you must give up your own personal needs for the sake of the world". So he gives up his resentment for Zuko and Katara, gives up his love for Katara, and enters the Avatar State to kill Ozai. Would it have been better? No, because it completely nullfies the whole "Do I kill him, or don't I?" question as well as going against what Iroh told him in Crossroads. But, nonetheless, it would've been very interesting to see the show end like that. It'd be plausible yet highly unexpected.

I say we forget about Kataang and Zutara and have the best ship in the world set sail: Zukaang. Then Mai and Katara can be together, making Matara. Perfect ending

Everything LondonParisNYC said = true. However, the creators didn't see it the same way you did. Zutara in my opinion will always be the better (not logical, but cooler) ship, but we have to respect their decision to please their audience (Y7)and themselves with Kataang.
