Sorry if anybody has already said this, but I just thought of this.??If you remember in the episode the Drill the FN tried to use a drill to break few the walls of Ba-Sing-Se.??I started to think who built the drill today. I came up with a theory that the FN captured the Northern Air Temple after the GAang left. The FN then took the mechanist captive and forced him to make The Drill.

It is just a theory but it seems cool. And I am sorry if anybody already suggestted this.

The reason why I came up with this was the Drill used water to move. In the "Nothern Air Temple" one of the mechanist's son said that the mechanist used water to make the FN tanks rollback upright when they were flipped over.

There is also a scene where you can see the mechanist working on the drill designs. The paper has a picture of the drill from diffrent angles. Good theory, but did they really need to capture him? Maybe they already had the plans before he stopped helping them.

That is a good thought about not capturing him. Hoever, the FN may have wanted to capture him in order to force him to make new weapons for them.

I don't think??he could have built it by himself. He would have need fire?? benders at the temple with??him. Besides how would they have moved the Drill off the mountain anyway.??

Well then, who's to say it wasn't underground or something? Or was being worked on somewhere else?

he probably designed it and made the blue print for the drill, and when someone came from the fire nation to check on his invetions he gave it to the inspector who took it to be built at different location probably in some part of the earth kingdom they captured near ba sing se.

That is probobly the most likely situation

    I ain't either.

There is almost no way that drill could have been built in the Northern Air Temple. No-one but the mechanic knew about the Fire Nation's threats, so anyone who saw something that big would have known pretty quickly. The sheer size of the Drill and the remote location of the temple would make it impossible to transport. Not to mention that in The Serpent's Pass Suki mentioned where the Drill was actually being made.

Also, it would probably take several months(if not years) to make something like that.

If the mechanic had been currently working on it he would have told the gAang about it.

It's a completely possible theory. That'd be cool if they brought the mechanic back.
