Would you think they would cancel the episode once they reach the end of the third season.

well its not called cancelled its called ending the series because they planned it to last 3 seasons and they should end it for 3 seasons, many people will think they are sell outs if they do make the fourth season

I think once the third season ends they might end up tackling the entire avatar cycle angle. Stuff like is it still there, what about airbenders, generally aang being the peacemaker (if he is still alive) and basically what they should do with all the firebenders who were involved in the war.??

After seeing the season 2 finale, I don't think any attempt should be made to extend the series beyond is planned end at season 3, It down hill from here.

No, there is too much opportunity for the 4th book (Air), if there is one.?? We have been seeing sub-techniques from each element bender...(Water/Healing, Fire/Lightning, Earth/??, Air/??).?? It is possible that the writers could dive into the final book with the notion of dealing with Aang finding out he is not the last Airbender.?? Which would fit nicely since the final book would be Air.

I have said this before, that if there ever was a sub-technique to Airbending, it would have to emulate the Airbenders themselves.?? They are evasive and defensive first.?? What better way to be evasive, than to have the technique of invisability.?? It could open up the possibility that there are other airbenders hiding since the genocide attacks of the Fire Nation.?? Assuming the fight with Ozai is at the end of Book Fire, it gives a reason for them to come out of hiding.?? It is my thought that Once Ozai is defeated, Azula will attain the throne for the final book.?? Which of course, pits Aang and Azula for a final confrontation...ultimately leading to Zuko coming full circle and getting the throne.

Money is all consuming deciding factor.?? If the show is still making money, they'll bring it back to complete the cycle.?? But that's just me.

like i already explained in my new thread, i dont think itll be smart of the writers to let Aang master fire bending, let the GAng re-take BSS, infiltrate the FN, take care of Azula, let Zuko choose for once and for all which side he really wants to take, and kill the fire lord. and not to forget, let the characters ship with eachother

if they WILL put this all in one season, they would rush the entire thing, and that just CANT be a good thing...

I said many positive things about the season finale, aside for those things the rest of the finale sucked.

You made me come to realize something that may have been pointed out before.?? Notice how each book is following the Avatar cycle??? So to me I think they will need to do a book of Air to keep everything in order.?? So what they may do is dedicate that book on reviving the air nation and the downfall of the FL.?? There is a great possibility for it to happen but we will see.

Only for true Earthbending masters, as lightning is for firebending masters. Healing is for waterbending masters, or the chosen few with the talent, and airbending. . .? There's one airbender. Aang. Who knows if he's unlocked ALL of its secrets?

And only a few have said it, but I'm gonna say it anyway: The writers have given great importance to the cycle of the Avatar world. Example: Air follows Fire, Earth follows Water, and Fire's gonna be after Earth. Nobody's disputing this, so why are we disputing the fact that they will make a fourth season, an Air season to follow the Fire season following this finished Earth? Season 2 (Earth) was about Aang finding an earthbending master, and the FN conquering the earth kingdom. Season 3 (Fire) will almost definitely be about Aang's mastery of Fire. Who will teach him? I dunno, but that's a good guess. Season 4 (Air) will probably be about the offensive into FN territory, Sozen's Comet, any final showdowns that need to take place, liberating the rest of the world, finding any other airbenders that exist (if any, I'm sure there are SOME), and the epilogue. THAT should be Air's purpose. That's a good TV show.

Hard to make a good guess about this seeing as we don't know the direction season 3 will take. Even though the driving factor in the end is ratings and money, there have been shows that overstay their welcome so to speak and leave the air with a bad taste. I would hate to see this happen to such a great show. Whatever happens, as long as the writing is fresh with new ideas and plot twists, there isn't any reason the show shouldn't continue past season 3. But, if things dry up and the story becomes stale or viewers start getting feelings like, we have already seen this or this has been done before, then the series needs to end so it can be remembered as the great show it is instead of the great show it was. The notion of good things tend to get run into the ground is very true, especially in TV.

Look originally the creators stated it was going to be a 3 season show, and implied the fire nation would be defeated by the end of the 3rd season, now their like ???well if nick funds us for more we will do it??? So fingers crossed nick does not fork out ~$40 million for a 4th season and we can see the end sooner.

Well they didn't really think the series would be such a hit with all audiences. Plus it's only $1 million per episode, so they'd be forking over about $20 million

And the creators never said any of that. Sure it was planned for 3 seasons/60 episodes. But they really enjoy making the show and not many creators would turn down a chance to go further with a show, to add more depth to a show. From what I understand Nick asked them about extending it and they were simply in TALKS. Probably after season 3 completes production the creators and writers will sit in a room and think if they could make an intriguing fourth season. Spongebob and FOP eventually became horrible because really they had no where to take their story, no consistant story arc. Every episode in their production room is far different, for the most part. But Avatar has a plot and to add another story arc is possible. And Nick is known for cancelling shows, not going up to the creators and telling them "We love your show. Would you be willing to discuss making another season or 2?".

And I can't believe you said the finale sucked. I guess not much pleases you.
