is it just me, or does every element in the avatar show has??its own martial art? i know the Kyoshi Warriors use an existing one, and that Zuko is an expert in Tai Chi... but im really curious about the rest of them, like Commander Zhao and Zuko used in their Agni Kai.

Water bending is based off of Tai-Chi. Sifu Kisu, the martial arts consultant for the show has said firbending is based off of Northern Shaolim, and Eartbending is based off of the Hung ga style. You can read the interview here:http://www.avatarspirit.com/interviews.php?id=9

I remember some short clips. What I remember is:

Airbending is based on Ba Gua, Waterbending is based on Tai Chi, Earthbending is based on Hung Gar, Firebending is based on Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, and Toph primarily used Southern Praying Mantis in the chapter "The Blind Bandit" (but that isn't the only thing she uses in later chapters).

whats the name of which the Kyoshi warriors use again? i forgot the name, but i remember its all in using the strength and speed of ur opponent against him or her.

btw, the best fight for me, is till the Agni Kai between Commander Zhao and Zuko in ''The Southern Air Temple''.

The creators and Sifu Kisu haven't even hinted on anything like that. My guess for at least the Blue Spirit's style of swordplay is based off of the Northern Shaolin Kung Fu Twin Dao (Broadsword) form. It would make sense for that, because Zuko is already learned in that style as firebending is based off of it.

But I don't know for any other person. They are all based off of traditional Chinese Kung Fu weapons forms, including the fans.

I think the Kyoshi warriors use Aikido, since that is all about attack redirection.

u could be right... still, thats not the only thing they use, cause Aikido is about defending urself instead of attack others... the Kyoshi warriors seemed pretty capable to attack the FN soldiers though
