So I'll give the facts everybody knows:

    1. The war has been around for 100 years.

    2. The Dai Le make sure that the war is never mentioned in the walls of Ba Sing Se.

    3. The Earth King is somehow controlled by the Dai Le.

So, here's what's been bothering me...

How long have the Dai Le been around? I mean, Long Feng isn't over a 100 years old. He's not even middle-aged in appearance! So was the Dai Le created by him when he got high up in society, or did somebody else create the Dai Le and hand over leadership to him? What sort of person would create this? And how long has the Earth King been controlled???Could he have created the Dai Le, and it back-fired???I have a feeling that most of these questions will be answered in the next episode, but I'd like to hear the opinions that y'all got on this matter.

And before you higher leveled people??pull your??'Ask a Question, Get an Answer' out of your hat, I'd like to say that I felt this to be an interesting topic with some interesting and long answers instead of just a simple answer.

I heard the Dai Li are almost as old as Ba Sing Se, but I'm not sure.

#%@$! I knew my spelling of Dai Li was wrong!

Okay, so where did you hear this anyway? This is an interesting new idea that could lead to discussion.

I don't think it's worth so much contemplating. The Dai Li would have been routed in with the origins of the civilisation like the masons, and have taken advantage of the powers granted to them, like FEMA have the authority to take over the US, a they have gone a bit too far with all this brain washing and preservation of culture. Long Feng doesnt have to be over 100, just like those before him - power corrupts and hes taken over.

I dont think the Dai Li will appear much naymore - the King will be a bit pissed and say how he was drugged or whatever, bu we dont need to know about the Dai Li. I can understand why your interested though.

Another thing that confused me was in "Imprisoned", a group of Earth Kingdom soldiers kidnap Iroh, and say they are taking him to Ba Sing Se to face justice. How are they able to do this, if any mention of war inside the walls are prohibited? They can't just march an old fire nation general into Ba Sing Se, wouldn't that disrupt the "delicate balance the Dai Li have worked so hard to achieve"?

The soldiers would have covertly taken him to Ba Sing Se,??one of??the??military encampments around the perimeter where the Dai Li are less enforceful or they were lying and were taking him to the lake? If the Dai Li have control over the king, they control the army so would know what was going on. They could brain wash anyone who got ruffled or aware.

I don't think anyone outside of Ba Sing Se knows about the Dai Li.

I think the Dai Li's role in Ba Sing Se changed when Long Feng started running them.

So if in Imprisoned, the soldiers knew he was the 'Dragon of the West,' why doesn't anyone in BSS notice who he is?

It could be a tradition passed down through their family.(Assuming someone actually wants to be married to a gut like that for long.)
