The Boiling Rock's Focus?

    When I first watched this episode, I was a bit confused as to why it completely focussed on Zuko and Sokka, and I think I have an idea as to why. It's just a guess, and all those... whatever you call them, "Zutara" fans, probably won't like it. Overall, you see in the episode that Zuko and Sokka are becoming almost like brothers, and my guess is, they are. I know people have already guessed that their mothers could be the same, but I think the preview at the comic con just sealed it. A lot of people have speculated on the hug between Katara and Zuko as them being together, but it could also be a scene where they find out they're related. That would be an expected reaction then. Also, I think the show has established Zuko and Mai will come back together from what we've seen in the episode, and like all shows, they need to pair up the main character, Aang, with a logical choice. Aang already showed Katara how he felt for her, so I think those two relationships are set. There are also other subtle hints showing Zuko and Mai being together instead of with Katara, but the main idea I wanted to show that I thought was that I believe these tweo episodes were created with the basic intent of developing Sokka and Zuko together into a closer, brotherly, relationship. This is just an educated guess of mine.

    Ursa is the mother of Zuko, Sokka, Katara and Azula? LOL NO.

    Ursa was banished far after Sokka and Katara were born, so impossible unless she having an affair with Hakoda (highly unlikely on a Nick show and improbable she was sneaking over to the SWT every weekend).

    Yes to Kataang/Maiko, no to your Ursa theory.

    Um, "educated guess"? What in the world makes you think that Zuko is related to Sokka and Katara? There is absolutely nothing in the entire series that even hints to that

    Be sure to add spoiler tags in the title; not everybody here has seen The Boiling Rock's.

    That's most likely WAS the purpose of the episodes; Sokka and Zuko get a chance to befriend each other just like Aang and Zuko did during The Firebending Masters. Next up for Zuko is to go on a mission with Katara. On a separate subject, welcome to the forums!

    Katara and Azula are the same age while Zuko and Sokka are near the same age. Also, Katara told the Gaang and several others that her mom was killed while Ursa is most likely still alive. And, we get a glimpse of Katara's mother in The Swamp... she looks significantly different from Ursa.

    Plus, I don't think Hakoda would be interested in the Fire Lord's wife.

    no hints of that theory

    the only way they are related is that Sokka's mom ends up being the sister of ursa

    that is far less likely than that Iroh's wife was ursa's sister, died on childbirth of Lu Ten; and that was the reason Iroh was close to ursa, and her kids

    the theory of ursa being sokka's and kat's mom is a more desperate tactic(is impossible) of a kataanger in order to kill zutara than a zutarian saying that mai and zuko can be just friends after "the BR closure" of their relationship(maizu only dies if either mai or zuko dies)

    First Half: Desperate attempt indeed. It stretched waaaaaay too far.

    Second Half: Actually, if argued correctly, it could be believeable (depends on how much of a Kataanger you are).

    Desperate doesn't begin to describe that first theory...More like delusional. Second part of this is plausible.
