But to answer it, I think yes because in the Avatar State we were shown numerous past avatars voluntarily entering their avatar states (like soccerdawg said). Too bad Aang's got a long way till he's at that point.

And I think someone missed a few lessons in kindergarden. What's one of the first things you're taught? Everyone deserves respect. You can be presumptuous all you want about SD's size and all, but that's no reason he doesn't deserve your respect. You need to go back a few grades an make up whatever you missed.

Someone deleted the picture thread because it was considered "begging" which isn't allowed. Though I don't see how asking someone to post pictures is like "begging"

Attempting to answer the question anyway-- Jings likely need to come into play when an avatar deliberately activates the avatar state, due to the devastating power potentially unleashed and the fundamental danger to the avatar.
