    No, I don't think she could've beaten her any other way, because due to the comet Azula was severely more powerful than Katara. So the only way Katara could win was to think smart, and she did.

    Honestly if the two had an all out battle right then & there Katara would be killed.

    I dont have a problem with katara beating azula, i mean Katara is strong and can handle herself i have a problem that she beat Azula during the comet. and also beat her so quickly. like you said Azula is extremely powerful, and like in previous episodes like the season 2 final, Azula was pritty much fighting the entire "Aang Gang" by her self, despite the few Dylee agents, and had no problem. you can argue that she was in a crazy sick desperate state, but she also had the comet on her side. she would have been able to break that ice effortlessly. i feel they kinda made a potently huge fight was discarded to save time.
    Hence why Katara chained her down.
    oh common you think chains could hold Azula the same girl, that would easily without hesitation break through Tophs rock restrains, i mean in the earth kingdom castle she easily broke through an entire body restraint of rocks. and with the comet, those chains would have been ashes.
    I don't remember her ever breaking through an entire body restraint of rocks!! That happened during the eclipse, but she wasn't the one who broke through the restraints, it was the Dai Li!!


    But still at the moment, Azula had a couple of screws loose, I do not think she knew what to do. I think she was more shocked than anything, I mean she did not expect to Katara all of a sudden to freeze her in water.

    I thought that was so awesome with the revolving elements!!! And did you notice that it was a sphere of air, but earth, fire, and water were just like ellipses?

    What an awful shame it's not as good anymore.

    I did not find it thaaat surprising, because well, Toph trained him to pretty much see with rocks. But still nonetheless I loved it.

    Ok, I'm about to show my age a bit here but was it just me or did some of the music and animation style remind you of some of the older Final Fantasy games? The sequence where all the airships take off and start flying across the sea reminded me of FF2 (American release, I think it was FF4 in Japan) Also some of the animation of the airships and where Sokka and Toph and Suki are running across the top reminded me of cutscenes from various FF games.

    And thus she was found by Aang, Sokka & Toph. At this time Toph encased her in rock, she broke free, only for it to be revealed that the Dai Li were there.
