lol Would you like it even if Aang moved the WESTERN AIR TEMPLE using a FROZEN DONKEY WHEEL that's covered in SPAGHETTI while the Fire Lord is KILLED BY A NOODLE? |
Actually, I like that better than the spoilers from the Sozin's Comet book.
If the only thing that the reviewer is worrying about is the plot, I don't think we have anything to worry about.
The fact is that the second half of season 2 was a turning point for avatar in the sense that after that point the only people who could really, truly appreciate the plot were people who had watched at least most of the previous key episodes. The fact that avatar has an advancing storyline has always been both the series' greatest strength and its greatest weakness. It is its greatest strengthbecause it makes avatar such a great show. It is its greatest weakness because anyone who tries to pick it up late will hopefully be intrigued enough to go back and find out what's going on, but equally likely could simply end up confused.
The phrase "plot stretched thin" could easily be applied to both of the previous season finales by people who had not seen the relevant previous episodes and were thus oblivious to some of the more subtle points. It is obvious that this "reviewer" had never even heard of ATLA prior to watching this, so I think we're fine.
Spongebob and Naruto fans who have at best watched only a few avatar episodes frequently feel obliged to tell us that avatar's plot sucks. In what way does the fact that this person writes regular reviews change anything? Most of the people on tv.com regularly write reviews of the various shows, but that doesn't qualify them as good reviewers (unless they give a 10 to any avatar episode, which instantly qualifies them as far as I'm concerned).

Here we go again...

Though this could potentially signify a problem. If the plot is so thin, does this mean Ursa and Iroh are never answered? |

I kind of get the feeling this reviewer hasn't seen any previous episodes before, as is the case with many TV reviewers. Anyone remember the Black Sun review? That was given a B+ and the person who wrote it had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.
Also I chuckled at that line. It could be funny depending on how it's used. Sounds like something Sokka would say to a reluctant Zuko.
Though the finale could still end up being a steaming pile of what was once a breakfast burrito, but I guess we'll have to wait and see

They gave it a B, huh? Well, it is just their opinion. I'm sure us fans will enjoy it much more.
