Actually, yeah it is. It's anti-climatic and stupid. Throughout the show, we have basically been told that Ozai must die. Sokka said it in Avatar State and even Ozai said it in Day of Black Sun. That's what we've been led to believe throughout the series and also Aang didn't seem to have a problem with killing Ozai in Day of Black Sun.
Plus the fact that they've killed off other important characters like Zhao, Jet and Yue, but they won't kill off the main villain quite angers me. Ozai is an abusive, vile, sadistic maniac who needs to die. Isn't that we've all been waiting for? The final battle to the death?
Why are Mike and Bryan like this? This is just like Zuko's betrayal in Ba Sing Se. They just sit there and enjoy as the fans get misleaded and let down saying "They never saw that coming!"

Oh, how very kind of you to share this with us. Now, if you wouldn't mind, stop telling us crap that nobody believes anyway because its you telling us. Thanks |
Zuko's decision in COD was horrible. Even though Zuko was able to redeem himself, I don't think his relationship with Iroh will ever be the same again.
Oh, and by the way, it has had time to sink in. I saw it on Avatar Wiki, but I've spent the last month going "there is no way in hell it can be true." I hate that ending now, and I'll hate it forever. It basically ruins the whole series for me.

Zuko's decision in terms of Zuko was terrible. Yes, he was an idiot for doing that to Iroh. But in terms of writing, it was a good idea. And possibly fairly realistic. Think about it, Zuko spends two seasons trying to regain his honor and his father's love. He did have Iroh's guidance, but a lot of the times, he didn't seem to be listening. Then he spends an hour or two with Katara, and you think he'd say "Even though I spend three years trying to regain my honor, I think because I was with you for an hour, I'm going to go against everything I believed in!" Zuko had to decide what he really wanted on his own. And Aang has to do the same. Aang's is a pacifist; he will try to do the least violent thing possible. Maybe it's not the best idea to keep Ozai alive, but Aang's not going go against what he believes in. Besides, I seem to recall them saying "Defeat" the Fire Lord. Not kill. Just because there are censors on the word "kill", that doesn't mean everytime they use the word "defeat" they really mean kill. I'm mostly looking at this in a writer's viewpoint. When writing, you have put the character's thoughts into their actions, not what you think would be "cool". If Aang killed Ozai, that would be completely out of character. Aang always seemed to struggle with that idea that he would have to kill someone. If he finds a way to defeat the Fire Lord, without killing him, of course Aang is going to go with the least violent option. But, I'm sorry you don't like the finale. And I'm sorry it ruined the whole show for you. I just hope that you will watch the finale, and maybe change your mind. Wishful thinking? |
Nope. My decision is made. Aang didn't really seem to mind in Day of Black Sun, though.
And yes, Sokka said "I guess he could always talk the Fire Lord to death."
I know! I'll just read all the spoilers off of Avatar Wiki, and then I'll forget that Avatar ever existed. I'll watch it online if this bullsh*t is false.

I say we don't need people in the fandom that will b**** and moan about the show if they don't like it. |
I didn't say I didn't like the show, I do, which is why I'm so angry. I just don't like the ending. I didn't wait 21/2 years to watch that idiot Aang to spare Ozai. I've waited, and I want to see Aang anihilate Ozai. This is supposed to be the epic finale, not the epic fail. And I'm not the only one who thinks that it's a bad ending.

That's why I'm trying to be as vague as possible, and why I was speaking generally.
But if you think they are too spoilerific, I'll delete my comments if you want.
