in the epi. The Chase remember when Zuko, Toph, Aang, and Katara put their bending powers together to fight off Azula.wouldnt Katara's water and Toph's dirt wash away Zuko's fire and Aang's wind would blow it all away. i know it looks cool and it a cartoon but they could have made it alittle bit realistic.

The separate elemental blasts didn't touch each other, I don't think; they were all aimed at Azula. Even if they did cancel each other out, the sheer explosive power of their collision would have hurt Azula even somewhat.

they did combine when??they hit Azula's fire and if they did take out each other the most Azula would feel is Aang's wind and alittle bit of wet dirt

Basically Azula pulled a Jeong Jeong...

    ??

create a fire shield and escape...my guess is that it doesn't offer any real protection from an attack...but it's a flashy moved used to create cover so you can escape...Azula's only differed in that it resulted in an explosion

It almost looks like Azula's flame sphere pulled all of their attacks into it's flow.?? Notice how all four move to the picture's left.?? Most of the water was probably evaporated, and the earth was vaporized.?? The explosion may have been more the wind causing explosive combustion with Azula and Zuko's fire.?? Kind of like what happened when Aang and Zuko hit each other with walls of their air and fire in Bato of the Water Tribe.?? What I want to know is where Sokka's boomerang went in all that.?? He threw it in there, too.?? Would have been funny if it had gone in last and hit Azula on her way out.

Funny, Zuko uses the same art to a lesser extent to survive the ship's explosion. NERF FIRE WALL!

If you look closely Sokka's boomerang is at the very top right above Azula's fire was sort of off to the left.

What my opinion has always been on the famous "4 element explosion" thing is, what cuased the explosion had to do more with the actual bending itself. Perhaps the release of energy was the result of the bending energies mixing. What I mean by bending energy is that actual connection between the bender and element, you know that force that lets them control an element. This energy can be seen in "The Drill" when Aang bends a falling boulder at Azula and when he moves a boulder over the cuts he made in the metal. It looked like a light blue aura. Perhaps its what gives air its blueish color when Aang bends it. It wouldnt be as visible with water or fire so I guess they didn't bother animating it. Anyways I beleive that when these energies mixed it cuases an explosion. I dont like the water being evaporated and earth vaporized by the fire idea becuase it shows an inbalance. The four elements should be in balance with one another showing that one isn't better than the other and there all equals. Obviously if you throw a puff of fire, a puff of air, some dirt and a squirt of water at a fire ball it wont explode in such a fashion so it must've had to do with the forces moving the elements.

This energy you are talking about is called chi, the energy that the bender has. And that little "explosion" you're talking about wasn't really an explosion. Azula made a wall of blue fire, just like when Jeong Jeong made a wall of fire to escape the Firebenders in "The Deserter." And when Aang moved the boulder in "The Drill" he was earthbending, not airbending. Also, if the water was evaporated by the fire, that wouldn't show an inbalance because water can, inturn, put out fire. And even if the fire destroyed the earth element, it depends on how much power is put into it.

Yeah I get what your saying, but that inbalance I mentioned was ONLY for that specific scene, I just think that in that scene no element surpassed the other. This is obvious becuase of the way all 4 benders attacked as one. But anyways yeah I get what you are saying, except for that part about "And when Aang moved the boulder in "The Drill he was earthbending, not airbending", why did you say that? Im assuming you think I mistook earthbending for airbending or something which I can assure you I did not.

Okay, instead of elements, think of someone throwing spears or whatever and Azula is holding a shield. The positions all 4 were standing in would've never allowed the 'spears' to collide with each other, and they hit Azulas 'shield' and probably died off there. ((And don't forget to wave at Sokka's boomerang...Waaaaay up there...)) Since blue fire is supposed to be stronger than regular red fire, Zuko's attack probably did add to it; Katara's attack might have done more damage, but it was just one blast; Aang hit the shield with air, which might have moved the shield if he'd hit it hard enough; and odds are Toph's attack was eradicated.

Happy? Now lets go back to watching the not-real-at-all??CARTOON!!

From what i see, the elements curved round the Jeong-Jeong (Yes i have named that move the Jeong-Jeong) showing that the elemens did not mix and most likely only water would had been gone from extinguishing the flame. The earth attack looks only like a cloud of dust but that could be toph turning the ground into quicksand. The explosion was probaly from the wind and fire mixing together

I like the name...It fits. And I heard someone blame the explosion on the shield, but if you remember, Jeong-Jeong's didn't blow up like THAT!! Not that big a scale, anyway. Azula's wrecked a big chunk of the town, but J-J's ((His names annoying to type)) looked only a few meters. So, while the shield might've had SOMETHING to do with it...It wasn't everything.
