In chapter 18: The Waterbending Master, when Yue kisses Sokka, the Moon is One-Quarter, possibly a bit less. Since episodes 19 & 20 take place during a full moon, it can be presumed that there were approximately 21 days in between Chapters 18 and 19. Many people who dislike Katara's quick mastery have been wondering this for a while, so I just thought I'd throw this out there.

Thanks for the helpful observation. This is the kind of "proof" that is actually proof, not crazy, wild speculation that has no basis for argument.

Good call! The only question I have is, "Cam Katara be a master in under 3 weeks?"

You can't really depend on the moon for a timeline. In "The Winter Solstice Part One: The Spirit World", the moon was a crescent, the next episode, it was a full moon. See.

Well you have to think about this. Katara has been learning waterbending since chapter 1. She pretty much knows waterbending that she got the skills.

i've thought about this. i really don't think "Master" is a rank, specifically. i think it means something more like "teacher". they aren't Jedis. "Master" may not mean, like, "elite" or something.

Master Paku did say that Katara was his fastest student ever. She did have some abilities before they got to the North Pole, so it's possible she learned enough to quilify as a master. Good find.

Is nbp the only person here who agrees with me that Katara is the show's "perfect" character? That she IS Pakku's fastest student. Stuff like that I'm not gonna get into.

Yea your right, the weird thing is that Part 1 ends with a close up of a crescent moon, and then Part 2 begins with a close up of a full moon. Which either means the moon went from crescent to full instantly, or it was a mistake. I think it was just a mistake.

finally the evidence we've been looking for...but notice another thing...Zuko's wounds don't heal...could it be because he simply didn't get them treated? I mean he was incognito the whole time until they reached the North pole...maybe that's it...

Well, he suffered an explosion... I guess that takes a long time to heal... ... but still, three weeks is a long time.

who are we going to believe? the show itself or the channel that airs the show? but based on the fight with Azula I'd say Aang has got Water, Earth, and Air pretty much down...but will Aang really be willing to use Firebending again? that's definetly??gonna be a subject of a future episode...

That could be why Katara became such a good waterbender but still...she managed to master waterbending in 3 weeks...maybe it was her 'determination and hard work'?

    Off Topic:

Aang didn't exactly master water in that episode though, he did use the water but he only really??used basic moves to attack using water and Toph I guess was teaching Aang how to Earth bend inbetween episodes, her pushy-ness must of gotten Aang to learn earth bending faster then water bending which is why Aang seemed to progress his earthbending abilities a lot in a short amount of time. The element Aang used most in the??battle was earth so maybe he was trying to see what he could do so far with the earthbending he already knows. Sorta wierd though, the only element Aang really ever??used in the other episodes beside this one(and 'Return to Omashu') is air but air is the element he uses least in this episode

Do moons have different phases in different regions? Like would there be a full moon in australia but when night comes to New york would it be a full moon too?
