I remember one time I saw the South Park episode "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods", and there was a scene where Mr. Garrison teaches the children about haiku.?? Kyle (and Kenny for that matter) seems to memorize the pattern of haiku (which is 5 syllables, then 7, then 5) very well.?? For example, when Mr. Garrison asks Kyle where Cartman is, Kyle responds:
"Fat ass Cartman was
Not on the school bus today.
What a big, fat turd."
When Cartman returns and says that he has been chosen to participate in the talent contest for Cheesy Poofs, Kyle uses this haiku insult:
"Ass full of pork fat
Jiggles like a Jell-O mold.
Mouth is flapping, too."
Cartman tells Kyle that his haiku insults don't scare him and that he's gonna win the contest, but Kyle responds again:
"I bet you don't win.
They don't let big, fat asses
Perform on TV."
Cartman, a little forgetful about haiku, tries returning a haiku insult with:
"Shut your goddamn mouth,
Or else I'm... gonna... kick you
Square in the balls... a**hole,"
but then realizes he's one syllable too many.?? The Avatar episode "Tales From Bai Sing" (I believe that's what is called) has a scene in which Sokka goes to class where students are taught haiku, and he struggles like Cartman to memorize haiku, like Kyle.?? The haiku teacher is kind of a mixture between Mr. Garrison and Kyle when he starts using haiku insults to call Sokka an oaf, but with the memory of South Park's Kyle, Sokka returns with other haiku insults at the teacher until the teacher leaves.?? But then Sokka gets a little carried away and gets into the hip-hoppy stuff that he forgets a little about haiku, and, like Cartman, realizes he's one syllable too many and gets thrown out.?? That was so funny!
BTW, did you see that episode and get reminded of the haiku scene from the South Park episode "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods"??? This is funny!
