why do the creators keep making sokka the comic relief !!! in that world anyone who cant bend is pretty much useless , he isnt even very good at fighting . I think it would be cool if he started to water bend ( even if he wasnt great ) what do yaz think ?

I don't think they make him appear to be useless at all.

I like Sokka as a non bender. I would like to see him be more of a fighter though and not be relagated to the sidelines when the "big kids" fight. Since Zuko realized himself in Zuko alone and doesn't really need to hide behind the Blue Spirit anymore I wouldn't mind seeing Sokka inherit the mask. It would be his opportunity to unlease the warrior he claims to be.

Hey I'm glad Sokka's has comedy in it. Without him there would be no comedy. And I don't find him useless at all, he helps plenty of times. Also him being human shows that even humans can help, it doesn't always have to be benders =[
That's why I hope they have a Sokka episode soon as well.

actually I'm glad the show has him because he is the funniest character with the best lines but i wish he could water bend ( or bend any other element ) , maybe even if he decides not to do it too often as it is " wierd" . I at least want to see?? him do some proper fighting i like the idea of him taking up the blue spirt role !!!!?? with the two broad swords that would be cool??

^Those are both very against his character. He's suppose to be the one to use logic and wits (he's smarter than you think) like how he figured out how to fake earthbending or found how to detect that gas leak. Anyway, he is never gonna use broadsword, he skilled with hunter's weapon (his whale bone knife and boomerang).

Sorry I brought this thread up after so many months.

If Sokka did inherit the Blue Spirit mask it wouldn't necessarily mean that he would have to learn to use broadswords. He would just have to learn to be a lot more stealthy, and not talk so much.

Actually I'd like to use this idea in a fan fiction so don't get mad that I stole it.

    2 things:

    1) This threads was from May...need I say more?
    2) The Blue Spirit mask is gone, dead, poof-de-poof.

If you're referring to my fan fiction, it starts before Lake Laogai so it could work.

If you're referring to the show, it is still possible for Sokka to become the Blue Spirit. Maybe he sees a Fire Nation wanted poster for the Blue Spirit and decides it would be a good disguise when and if he has to infiltrate a Fire Nation prison to save the gAang or something.

I was referring to the show.

The Blue Spirit mask was thrown into the lake, and I highly doubt he would find an exact duplicate. Ok, lets just let this thread die. considering its 7 months old.

I will so NOT let this thread die! Besides, that second Blue Spirit mask was also different from the original. Zuko got it off a cart during 'The Swamp'. Watch it again. At the very beginning you can see it on a cart that passes in front of Uncle and Nephew while they're begging.

Someone else might come along! I don't know why I'm saying this since you're just ignoring the thread...

Please, anyone who still wants to discuss this highly interesting topic, post.

    maybe it could be jet....

also in terms of sokka bending, i also think it would go against his character, but he really needs to use his boomerang more.

I have a theory that Sokka may be able to bend water(not very well) and he's hiding it so no one will think he's some kind of hypocrite. I've even imagined a possible episode where this is found out and he leaves the gAang to do some th(dr)inking.

Personally, I like Sokka as a nonbender. I know that it would be cool if he discovered he had some waterbending powers, but its his own wit and warrior skills that make him uniquie. Everyone in the gang has their own role.

    Aang-airbender, Avatar, nough said!

    Katara-The healer and waterbender

    Toph- The earthbender

Zuko-(if in the group) the firebender

    Earth King-Er...I don't know....the new comic relief!?XD

But Sokka is special....he doesn't need bending. All he needs his courage and loyalty to his friends. Its his wits and weapons that make him a fighter, but its his heart that makes his warrior. And if you still want him to be a bender....(points at siggy) CAn you say BOOMERANG BENDER!
