Nickelodeon (ended 2008)
well...actually you're seeing airbending for what it really is...airbenders battle tactic??is avoid the attack...so that would put their attack-defense ratio at about 10% attack to 90% defense...we've seen Ang create a big tornado (King of Omashu) but it was a defensive move more than an attacking one...the most offensive attack i've seen Ang use is blasts of air(which is all an airbender can do) which don't inflict much damage...while firebenders are aggressors...so when a firebender fights an airbender you'll see the firebender attack alot and the airbender out manuver him(just like against Azula and Zuko on all those occasions)...we haven't seen Ang need to blow someone away that much yet...maybe he'll unleash that power on Fury of the Avatar...unless Fury means past Fury where Ang learns more about his past lives...
What I would like to see more of is Aang using his teachings (so far water and a little fire) when he is faced with a battle situation when it seems he resorts pretty much only to airbending. My best guess as to why he is holding back (in my opinion) may be he (or the writers) is trying to keep his abilities as unknown as possible, so that enemies can not prepare for him.
I know he said he will never firebend again, but not even for defense (such as Azula did)? Seems odd to me to have the knowledge and not use it. I understand his position, but how can he ever be a fully realized Avatar unless he masters firebending. If he doesn't get fully realized will that also break the Avatar cycle???
Aang should use airbending as his defense, and now that he knows some waterbending he should really start attacking more with it.

Interesting that you say that, because in the beginning the Air bender portrayed seems to be about the size of a full grown man, or a 17 yr. old.

Dudes in real life tornados and Hurricanes kill way more people then fire nowadays. Fires are usually stoped early. But you can,t really stop a hurrican look at New Orleans. |
