Actually, it is hard to tell. You see good definition in Aang's chest but very lttle on abbs.

We may assume the following:

2) Its hot in the firenation

1) for this to hold true, the creators would have shown previous episodes of obvious fanservice in the past. I really can't recall any, other than "The Beach," and waaay back in the thrid episode of the first season with shirtless zuko vs. shirtless zhao. Other than that, a siege on the north and good second season story.
2) for this to hold true, Sokka and Zuko would also feel the need to strip off accordingly to get cooler...seeing as thats not the case, where in many accounts, Sokka is always wearing his vest and Zuko, his outfit, along with other instances in a cloak, the possibility of this reason is plausible.

LOL, I think we have all officially established it was for the fangirls... As said before, Zuko and Aang are the two most known guys in Avatar when it comes to female fanbases... Now if Katara or Azula were to be shirt-... Nevermind... LOL, this is going to turn into a thread about who girls like more, out of Zuko or Aang... Should make for some amazing comedy, Haha.

My theory is that Aang developed musculature and then started going around shirtless specifically to impress Katara. Obviously, it workd.

Zuko's in my icon, sig, and fic where he marries my character (that's her in the sig) and they already have a todler (they adopted). And I've been saying Zuko would teach Aang firebending since the Southern Airtemple.
