Season two will wrap up on December 1st with a one hour special with the first episode called "The Guru", presumably the one we saw in "Appas Lost Day's". The last episode will be called "The Crossroads of Destiny". I am a little dissapointed with the Avatar writers, at least make a second seige on Ba Seing Se where the air ballons introduced in "The Northern Air Temple" will finally come in play. Also, was it me, or did the second half of this season get kind of...boring? Nothing to complain about, just the writers had a lot to work with, and made a one day seige of Ba Seing Se, which was solved in two hours tops, and decided that staying in Ba Seing Se with nothing to do but wait was the best idea for fans.

It just seems to me that the second half of this season lacked the excitment and magic of the 1st. You know, the firebending master, the seige, the discovery of the comet, etc. This season seemed to lack surprise, only character development and more. Let's hope the finale has at least two kick butt kung fu scenes,(Azula vs. Zuko vs. Aang and Ty Lee & her friend vs. Katara & Sokka!!!!) I hope at the end of this season, Aang will have learned something from the Guru.....and will have saved Ba Seing Se from the ballons! Come through writers!!!

Yes, the second half of the season is definitely not up to the standards. This last episode was phenomenal, but was like getting the 3 episodes we lost back in 25 minutes. Ty-Lee's friend's name is Mei. I love the beginning of the season, but the progress it made towards upping the ante was in all dropped when The Desert (and on) brought the series to a screeching halt.

I don't like the idea of a second seige for the finale (that's too similar) and I never liked the promise of balloons. I'd prefer if this finale was instead focused on something a little more personal with something greater at stake than a town they won't need in the future anyhow. Oh well, Season 3 better be good.

Kid did you think before making the thread Bu heres some things say the Finale will have a battle in Ba Sing Se not a seige the battle will be inside the walls not from the outside and into the inside. But The finale will have a great fight and heres something to bring your hopes up sifu Kisu himself said the finale will have great fight scenes major suprises and more and it was better than the first season's finale as rated by spectators whom got to see it.... The 2nd season lacked cause it spended time with the characters they didn't have crazy battles cause they weren't needed and people fail to relize that the reason Aang can't spill the beans if caue of Long Feng there not going to rush it but blowing the city up for your enjoyent but what will happen is the season arc will end in 2.18 and the finale will have the battle.

Regardless of the story's circumstances, C_B, they still could have paced the season better. I don't need flashy battles and oooh, fire! I just wanted season 2 to flow better. In season 1 they're always on the move and always have a clear goal. In season 2, they take a moment, backtrack and then do nothing. A good writer can always avoid a midseason lull.

Lake Laogai has already regained my faith in the series. Hopefully TEK is just as good.

I believe that these past episodes have been introducing us to Ba Sing Se. It is a large city with huge amounts of history, lore, and secrets. Hence the title: City of Walls and Secrets. But that's just me. I think that now they are going to start getting into the story line and delving more into the Avatar World. By the way, what is their world called?

I don't think it has been mentioned. I bet the fandom will come up with something.

here is my take on the "Avatar World"... its kinda long but worth reading I think, so I copied it from the original thread I placed it in Jeong Jeong Speculation

One thing I would like to speculate about Jeong Jeong, does anybody else notice he is drawn to have more "japanese" look to him than any other character. I guess this is an interest to me since I am japanese. I'm notice other small little parallels that seem to point to the "fire nation" being symbolic of Japan.

Throughout my life, my mother would tell me small parts of Japanese history and how Japan had enslaved the asian region for almost 100 years; kinda like what the Fire Nation is trying to do with the world of Avatar right now. So is it befitting that the islands of the Fire Nation are symbolic of the island of Japan and its surrounding islands. Just look at any map of Japan and mirror it, looks just like the Fire Nation islands. And the fire nation people tend to have more of a japanese look with the Earth Nation having more of a chinese look.

And of course, China is the largest land mass of the orient, which by the way has a "wall" around it, and so is the Earth Nation.

Now getting back to Jeong Jeong, I find him to parallel the Aniu of Japan, which??by the way, is my japanese heritage. You can look up their history but they tend to stand out because of their deep roots in honor and their tendencies to devout their entire being to their martial arts and disciplines. Keep in mind, some would say that the Aniu were considered outcasts among Japan society.??

I might think I was reading more into the mirroring of the current orient and the lands in Avatar but I doubt it. It is not coincidence that most of the calligraphy and martial arts forms are based on what we would call "ancient ways" or in english terms "old school".

Hey, just a thought and nice little history lesson as well!

I totally agree, the Fire Nation is mirroed after the Japanese nation. Here is a island country with a strict warrior code (Bushido) headed by the Fire Lord (Shogun) and policed by a warrior class (Samurai). Even the names Zuko, Azula and Ozai sound Japanese.
A question about the Ainu. I know a little about Japanese history so feel free to correct me, but weren't the Ainu the orignal inhabitants of the island? Sort of like the Native Americans of Japan that inhabitaed the northern regions of Japan. I've seen picutres of the Ainu and they look very little like the Japanse of today. Do you live in the States or Japan?

Oh and as for the finale...I'm thinking something tragic. Like maybe Zuko will end up killing Azula despite her wicked ways. I don't see the Fire Nation attacking Ba Sing Se again.

Ainu were indeed the original inhabitants of the islands, exactly like the American Indian.?? Major different features would be the high cheekbone of the Ainu.?? To get an idea of what my mother look liked, whose heritage was Ainu, picture someone of the Hawaiian islands with a slighter more oriental tint to their skin.?? My mother used to tell me that when the Ainu were being pushed into the mountain regions of Japan by, of course, progress, many decided to leave and find a new home... and of course, looking at a map, you can guess where most migrated to.. the islands of Hawaii.

Of course, my speculation of Jeong Jeong and the relation to the Ainu is how the Ainu people were able to survive in the mountain areas of Japan without being found and how Jeong Jeong could do the same.

I was born and raised in the United States, only my oldest sister was born in Japan.

Sorry, this is a little off topic

If the Fire Nation is similar to Japan, the Earth Kingdom is similar to China, and the Water Tribes similar to the Inuit tribes in Alaska and Northern Canada, what are the Air Nomads similar to?

Haha, in my original post I put Eark Kingdom

I would relate the Air Nomads to the Buddhist Monks in China, i.e. they had temples, choose to live amongst themselves only, deep studies, and a martial art tradition.
