Ok, so I just finished watching "Zuko Alone," and I noticed something very interesting that I have never noticed before. In one of the flashbacks were Ozai is alone with Azulon, and trying to convince him that he(Ozai) should be the next firelord. And Azulon obviously gets completely upset, and says to Ozai "after the suffering Iroh has been through, but you, your suffering has scaresly begun" and then we see a huge blast of fire. (although we dont actually see it)?? Ok, now think about this everytime Ozai is shown his face is always covered up. So my theory (pure speculation of course) is that Azulon gave Ozai a scar on his face...*pauses for a moment for gasps*....this supports the fact that the show has never shown Ozai's face. What other reason is there to cover up his face, and only his face? This would also explain why Ozai burned Zuko. That would give it a nice parallelism.

(Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I couldn't find it in the directory.)

    What do you think?

Interesting......Except it still dosen't really explain why Ozai would burn his own son......

ur right it doesn't i just wanted to add that for parallelism. speaking of which, heres some more: Ozai probably killed Azulon right, wouldnt it be a beftting end if Zuko killed Ozai

maybe he's just bitter and he wanted to give zuko the same pain that he has.... but ozai's pretty wack as it is so it would make sense that he'd hurt his own son....

he burned his son because he thought he had no respect...

"you will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher"

i dont think it had to do with azulon

Ozai didn't have a good reason anyway.

I completely agree with you Nalesnik. The Scarred face, even the killing thing in a way. But I wonder if Zuko's honor would allow him to do that. He may??'punish' his father, I'm sure, and is probably going to overthrow him.

If he did kill his father though, that would be an interesting end.

yea, I hope its now something corny, like Zuko defeats Ozai at top of volcano, and says he wouldn't kill him, but then Ozai accidently slips of the volcano, and dies in a fiery blaze

This is not enough evidence. If you watch The Deserter episode in season 1 then you will see that the puppet of the firelord does not have a scar on it. The puppet obviously is supposed to look like him since later in the Zuko alone episode Ozai had a gotei and long hair just like the puppet.

Interesting theory. I don't think I am buying though. At some point there needs some sort of closure which could be Zuko scarring Ozai as was done to him maybe. Maybe Iroh and Zuko together might persuade Ozai to see the error of his ways if Zuko goes down that path. Should be fun to watch unfold as we move into season 3.

the scar doesn't have to be exactly like zuko's, so maybe its lower down the face, so my theory is still alive (yes!!) but i do agree with u that i have no real prove, just some fun speculation
