Get your mom to buy the first season on DVD. Catching up on the backstory is a must, because this show tries to take itself seriously. The fight scenes are incredible for something Nick would licence and the story has been interesting since mid-first season.

And your last sentence makes no sense.

It's a really good show. Im 23, and am a huge fan. Don't let the fact that it is a cartoon disuede you.

There are a few moments when the Y7 aspects of the show do come threw but they are so few and far between they are not worth mentioning.

Avatar is much more complex than any other kids show I have seen. It's great for kids and adults. I don't think it's kiddy at all (okay, well, a little at times) but that's to be expected since kids as young as 3 watch it. I??really??like the comedy, though.??but the action and storyline is great and practically everything has a hidden meaning in it.??(next time ask this in the Ask A Question, Get An Answer Thread. It's at the top of the forum in a "sticky." Thank you )

Well, I think making a thread wasn't exactly in the best interest, but at least you actually apologized. Taking responsibility for actions, huh, that's kinda weird for this place. Seriously I think it shows a lot of character, or whatever.

It is one of those things kids look at it one way (what they see) and older people see it between the lines, and get the inside jokes.

More or less. That usually applies to cartoons that use execessive gross humor or are know to??crack??adult jokes??(Rock's Modern Life's "Chokey Chicken", Spongebob's "Don't drop em" line). Whenin avatar??simply uses a lot of concepts (spirituality, honor, loyalty, conspiracies, wars etc)??that few kids would understand. I've only seen only seen one single scene that can be inferred as an "inside joke".

    Another good??example-

I like the fact that I can watch this show with my 5yr old and 7yr old and they can enjoy it although most the subject material is WAY over their heads. Of course that is the reason I enjoy it so much. The Avatar gives adults a show with mystery and intrigue with a rich history and culture WITHOUT making it unable to watch around your kids - that is a RARE find in this day and age. Heck I was watching America's Funniest Videos the other day and the host used foul language . We have relationships, revenge, life or death situations... I could go on and on.... and yet thru it all my kids are smiling and enjoying the "karate" moves and bedhead jokes... GOTTA LOVE IT!

Sorry I assumed you were a child. On this forum I assume everyone is 9-13 unless they have a strong case otherwise. I appreciate any series with a bit of epic scope to it. I'm not much for shows about a group chatting about thier day and wacky antics, nor simple A to B shows. Avatar has kept my interest thus far and I believe it may keep me a fan the entire way through.

But yes, it does get very kiddie. But that's because the characters are all preteens with the exception of Zuko's rivals and allies. But the writers never stick with one element to make thier story and keep things well rounded. I hope you like Avatar as much as the rest of us do.

I am 38, my husband is 40, our kids are 5 & 7. We have been playing RPGs and watching anime probably longer than most on these forums have been potty trained... (can anyone say "The Odyssey game system or say they truly own the robot to the 1st Nintendo system or even they own the 1st original Final Fantasy game and bought it when it debuted?)... AND GUESS WHAT? We like it! Our kids like it! My 22yr old nephew was done this past weekend and we were finishing up a marathon of the box set and guess what? He liked it! I had to let him borrow the box set so he could get caught up! Hope this answers your question!
