Applying for colleges is really competitive here for some schools, but then there are others (like community colleges) that anyone who applies is almost guaranteed a spot in the school. So you do have the choice to go to college, some just don't because they want to do other things or they didn't get in to the school that they wanted to go to so they take a year off and reapply next year. Oh, and by the way ross, your year 11 is the same as our junior year in high school, just so you know .

Any college kids here? (Fight On, Trojans!)

Well, I don't know about everyone else, but I get out mid-May and go back mid-August. So I guess that would be about three months, give or take a few days. But to get in to college here, you have to (depending on what school you want to go in to) get really good grades in high school and have a high GPA. Some people improve their GPA through taking AP courses, standing for Advanced Placement, which are college-level courses in high school. Then, you take a stantardized test known as the SAT as many time as you want to get the best score you can in the three sections of math, reading, and writing, and then you report your best scores on college applications. In addition, most colleges ask you to answer some questions in either an essay form or give them short answers. But yeah, it might look like a lot but it really wasn't all that bad for me.
