Ok, I'll stop all this paliating by making my own explanation. Maybe the reason why Zuko cares so much about his father's love is because he hasn't gotten much love from people. The only people that did were Mai, Ursa, and Iroh, and maybe he just feels bad because not many people care about him or like him. And he wants his father's love because his father has never cared for him and maybe was never even pleased with him, and so to him that's a great treasure to have. And he doesn't hate him because his dad never did like him and never was pleased with him, so trying to please him is just HIS method of approaching this. Anyone else (except maybe a few other people) would just hate their dad back.
Whatever happened to the cookies that people were betting? Not that I want to join, cuz' I don't gamble in any way. Also, I'll just end that bet, Zuko isn't evil, he's just having a huge ambivalence inside him and he's confounded on what the right thing to do is so he keeps switching sides, so technically he's both good and evil. So there, bets over, I might have ruined the fun, but I kept a cataclysm(violent uproar)fromoccuring, cuz' I had a presintament one would happen.Anyway, I used big words because I felt like it. Also, about the 20 cookies, where are they, who has them, and what happened to them?(not that I care).

ive been thinking and i noticed how Aang has saved Zukos butt more than once...in fact...if he hadnt in the north pole...Zuko would probably be dead....and when Zuko was playing as the blue spirit if he hadnt saved him then...he would have been turne over to his father...as a firenation criminal and probably killed.....Zuko technically owes aang his life...and more....w/o aang Zuko wouldnt have gotten this chance to get his honor back at ba sing se..to find his mom in season 3.....to go home...he would be dead or have nothing....does Zuko realize this? do you think this may become an important factor in season 3 at all? b/c it is true

i think it might play a big part later on- but for now i dont think he truly realises how much he owes the avatar.
