I chalk that up to specializing. It probably takes a lot of work to move a living organism by its water content. I imagine Hugh spent lots of time learning how to control his vine monster so intricately. The worst nonspecialists could probably do is topple it (but Hugh would be faster than most nonspecialists and would catch it in time).

and to answer the human part of the question, Humans are much more than water. sure, we're mostly water, but thats mixed in with bones and blod. and the guy can't bend bones. Vines are just a plant. boneless and bloodless. so there

on nick.com it said that at a close range them can control you by bending the water...its under where it talks about waterbendeing

if there are waterbenders in other places pesides the water tribes...then wouldn't it be possible that there are airbenders beside the airnomads?

Hee hee...when I was watching this episode the first time, I was thinking 'The Blue Spirit is becoming a regular Robin Hood!'

Of course, earlier the day I had seen Shrek and watched the 'Merrymen Song'. And thus, this was created:

Blue Spirit: I steal from the rich,
And give to the needy,
I take a wee percentage,
But I'm not greedy!
I rescued the Avatar,
MAN I'M GOOD!

Sokka/Katara/Aang: What-ho! Mr. Blue!

Iroh: Break it down!

All: *Step dance cheerfully*

Blue Spirit: I like dishonest fighting and beating on Zhao...

Aang:What he's basically saying is he likes to fight,

Blue Spirit:...NOW!
So, when an admiral who's sneaky grabs an Avatar who's cheeky,

Aang: That's bad,
Katara: That's bad,
Sokka: That's bad,
Zhao: That's bad?

Blue Spirit: When one humiliates my uncle it makes me awfully mad,

Iroh: He's mad, he's really, really mad.

Blue Spirit: Now I'll take your swords and knock you on the head,
Keep your eyes on me, man, 'Cause you'll drop like leaaaaad...

That whole song belongs to me. No one can use it without permission
