Lovely episode! I loved the way Zuko's predicament parallelled what was happening to Aang.
I just got thinking about the flask of water Pakku gave Katara in the beginning of the episode. Maybe this water is one way for Aang to access his avatar state? I wonder wy he didn't think about this?
It will be interesting to see what katara does with this (heal Zuko's scar?
I'd love to see that. I hate that scar.

... I know I know its a scar and if she used her waterbending as a sort of plastic sugery like deal she'd have to regrow the skin on his ear, and fix the nerves around his eye which probably don't really work enymore. NO AMOUNT OF WATER CAN CHANGE THE DAMAGE OF THE FIRE LORD

OMG OMG OMG THAT WAS AWESOME

Azula is a b****, and she even had me going for a second and I was like wow, where are the creators going with this, but I kinda loved how Iroh smacked her into the water. Even though she is like my favorite character now, that was funny! And Zuko, well, umm, I didn't quite understand why he and Iroh cut there hair off in the end, I'm supposing its something symbol.... Oh that and the energy drink they gave Aang Gosh thats like me and a can of red bull That whole episode was awesome,

It obviously showed loyalty to the Fire Nation. Now they can get a new wardrobe and Maybe Zuko can cover that scar. It still creeps me out.

the scar will be removed (not healed there are u happy) mark my words. That was alluded to when PAKU GAVE KATARA THE WATER WITH SPECIAL PROPERTIES.

This is a cartoon. We'll just have to see how things unfold. I bet she can do it.

What my sisters and I thought of the eppie:

Intense but good. Funny (Cassidy kept laughing for no reason). Cassidy and said Sokka looks good with his hair down and shirt off (and hot ). Brittany was watching it in a different room than Cassidy and I and sometimes we discussed it (we all said poor Sokka at the beginning). Cassidy and I discussed the theme song and made a new version of it (new lyrics, and metal).

    -35 minutes till Avatar shows!!!!!

When Zuko made the comment (more like insult) to Iroh about him being Lazy and Jealous of his brother (donno if thats true or not but) do you think that he was implying about something Iroh regets.

Like Iroh had the chance to take the throne but he didn't something like that, almost like how Azula is the better firebender and she's younger than Zuko. I wonder if thats how it was with Iroh and Ozai

I can't believe Grey DeLisle did the voice of Azula. I didn't really like her voice, though.

    quote of the year.
Things are not always what they seem in our family.

That may be the most profound thing Iroh ever said. I think maybe zuko is the son of Iroh.

That ep was just...woah. I can't believe how incredibly idiotic and crazy that general was, though that thing with the tea had me cracking up.

I think my favorite part was Zuko and Iroh cutting their hair, which I feel is symbolic of them not being tied to the Fire Nation anymore. It reminded me of Sakura cutting her hair in Naruto, even if it was for a different reason. But I'm sure he'll still be hot. Sure, he might only have a patch of hair left - but he'll always look the same shirtless. *drool*

I'm quite excited for the next ep as well. If it was anything like this one, I'm bound to enjoy it, although the possibility of Katara and Aang kissing already has me giddy to no end.
Your right it's pretty similar to Sakura and Ino cutting of their hair. Good eyes.

I think that they have some kind of family secret, but then thats way to obvious... and Zuko is the son of Ozai that is for sure

Having just watched the episode, I think that Aang should combine the two elements he has control over. Like he could have made it rain using the air currents and waterbending to make the earth all muddy to create less danger. Since it would have been mud, he could have controlled it because it was part water. Also, when Aang went into the Avatar State, it just shows that Aang really cares for Katara. It was a fantastic episode!

This was a good episode (Zuzu...XD). I like Sokka and Katara's new outfits ^_^...and Sokka does look good with his hair down . ...I wonder if the Fire Nation is aware that the Avatar will never be reincarnated again if killed in the Avatar State...

I thought the cherry blossom scene with Zuko and Iroh fit them really well. After all, cherry blossoms are supposed to be an ominous sign, and it looks like their future isn't gonna be so bright. I didn't get why they cut their hair at the end until I read an explanation here ^_^;;. It'll be hard to get used to Zuko without his ponytail.

Why? What do cherry blossoms signify?

A few points of my own:
    - Is it just me, or did the general say something like "With great power comes great responsibility" in their first meeting?
    - I love the new Incredible-Hulk-complex conflict for Aang. Typical monomyth fare, but I thought when it came along, it would be with Zuko.

    Zuko...
    - Learning it was Iroh all along holding Zuko's shoulder in his flashback, not his father, was definitely ominously creepy.
    - I swear, when Zuko first held up that knife, just for a second, I wondered if he was going to kill himself.
    - Fortunately, we've just studied the Age of Reason in English Lit. The popular moral of the time: When the heart overrides the mind, disaster strikes. Of course, every viewer knew it was a lie and a trap, no doubt from the start. But Zuko wants his father's love and to return home so badly, he can't think straight. His desire to believe completely overpowered his reason. It didn't seem far out at all to me or any less sad.
    - I thought the alternating scenes from Aang's story to Zuko's to Aang's and back again made an incredibly choppy episode. (But I liked it because they gave Zuko so much attention). I think two episodes, one for each of the two plots, would make more sense. Maybe the writers are trying to give less attention to Zuko and make the fans focus more on their protagonist, Aang (like I said, this whole Incredible Hulk-like complex adds darkness to his character).
    - Too bad Iroh's mysterious lightning bending ability is, apparently, not unique. But how in the world can fire benders bend lightning?
